GRANDMA'S GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE
Green bean casserole is a savory holiday side dish with all kinds of big and delicious flavors, and it's totally easy to make day of or ahead of time!

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Drain and rinse the canned green beans, and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter. When it is melted, add the onion and garlic, and stir to combine. Cook for 1 minute.
- Add the flour, and cook for another minute, stirring often.
- Whisk in salt and then the milk, and cook for one more minute until the mixture thickens.
- Remove from the heat, and stir in the sour cream.
- Add the rinsed green beans to the pan, and gently stir to combine.
- Place the green bean mixture in the bottom of the 2.5-quart baking dish (this can be a 9-inch square, a 9-inch round, or other similar-sized oval dishes).
- Add the cracker crumbs and melted butter to a small bowl, and stir to combine.
- Sprinkle the cracker crumbs over the green bean mixture.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until the mixture is hot and the cracker crumbs are golden-brown.
- Serve hot.

- Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
- Mix everything together except the onion rings.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove from oven and top with onion rings. Put back into oven for 10 minutes.

Steps:
- Mix the Soup, Milk, Sour Cream, Garlic & pepper. Fold in the Green Beans.
- Mix the Bread Crumbs & melted Butter together in a seprate bowl.
- Using 1/3 of the Green Bean mix, spread into a thin layer, add 1/3 of the Bread Crumbs & sprinkle with 1/3 of the cheese. Continue to layer with the Bread Crumbs & cheese on top.
- Bake loosely covered for 15 to 20 minutes on 350, then uncover & add the french-fried onions & bake approximately another 5 or 10 minutes. (caerfull to not burn onions).
- This can be made ahead & stored overnight in the fridge (without the fried onions but may have to cook another 5 minutes longer). Use an 9x9 pan unless you double the recipe then you can use a 9x13.
- My son now makes this for both Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners, he said he makes an average of 8 casseroles due to demands for holiday parties & family gatherings.

- Preheat oven to 350 Melt 2 tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium heat Stir in flour until smooth and cook for one minute Stir in the salt, sugar, onion and sour cream Add green beans and stir to coat Transfer to a 2.5 quart casserole dish. Spread cheddar cheese over the top. In a small bowl toss together cracker crumbs and remaining butter and sprinkle over the cheese Bake for 30 minutes or until the top is golden and the cheese is bubbly
