1 (15.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
2 eggs
½ cup butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (16 ounce) package confectioners' sugar, plus more for dusting
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
2 eggs

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Mix cake mix and 2 eggs together in a bowl. Add butter and vanilla extract; mix until batter is smooth and thick. Spread batter into the prepared baking dish.
  • Beat confectioners' sugar, cream cheese, and 2 eggs together in a bowl until smooth; spread over batter.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until sides of cake are pulled away from dish and browned, 25 to 35 minutes. Cool cake completely. Sprinkle more confectioners' sugar over cooled cake.

The cake childhood memories are made of, moist chocolate cake with chocolate walnut fudge frosting. Be sure to grab a glass of milk!

Number Of Ingredients 19

2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup water
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup oil
6 tablespoons cocoa
3 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Chocolate Fudge Frosting
1/2 cup butter
4 tablespoons cocoa
6 tablespoons milk
1 box powdered sugar (4 cups)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup walnuts, chopped

Steps:

  • In a saucepan melt the butter with the water. Stir in the cocoa and oil. Cool for 15 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. (325 for a glass pan) Spray a 9 x 13 pan with cooking spray. Set aside.
  • Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Set aside.
  • Add the eggs and buttermilk to a mixing bowl big enough for everything. Whisk until the eggs and buttermilk are combined. Add the cocoa mixture. Whisk together for several minutes.
  • Add half of the dry ingredients, mix in. Add remaining ingredients and whisk together a few minutes until everything is incorporated. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Bake for about 30 minutes or until a tester comes out clean. When you take the cake out of the oven start the frosting.
  • Chocolate Fudge Frosting
  • Add the butter, cocoa and milk to a saucepan. Bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute. Let cool about 10 minutes and stir in powdered sugar. Beat until frosting is smooth. Stir in nuts and frost cake while still warm.

2 teaspoons vanilla extract, divided
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
4 cups confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Mix cake mix, melted butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 2 eggs with a spoon. Pat into a 9x13-inch pan.
  • Mix cream cheese, remaining 2 eggs, and remaining 1 teaspoon vanilla with an electric mixer. Slowly beat in confectioner's sugar. Pour over cake layer.
  • Bake for 40 to 45 minutes. Cool.

3 cups cake flour
1 cup sweet butter
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups super fine sugar
4 large eggs
1 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon lemon extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups dark brown sugar
1 stick butter
3 to 4 cups confectioners sugar, sifted
8 to 10 tablespoons heavy cream

Steps:

  • Preheat gas oven 350 degrees, electric 325 degrees. All ingredients should be room temperature. Grease and flour 2 (9-inch) round cake pans. Sift flour, add baking powder and salt. Set aside. On medium speed, cream butter and sugar, until light and fluffy. (Or 150 strokes by hand.) On medium speed, (or another 150 strokes) add 1 egg at a time. After 2 eggs add 2 tablespoons flour. Add flour mix alternating with the milk, ending with the flour. Add extracts. Place cake pan in middle of oven. Pans should not touch. Baking time approximately 35 minutes.
  • In a hot cast-iron skillet or heavy saucepan melt butter and brown sugar together on high heat, stirring until sugar is thoroughly melted. Transfer into mixing bowl and, using mixer on low speed, starting and ending with confectioners' sugar; alternately add heavy cream with vanilla, beating until frosting becomes spreadable. Spread on cooled cake.;

1 lb. powdered sugar + some for dusting after baked
8 oz cream cheese (at room temperature)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Mix the cake mix, 2 eggs and melted butter with an electric mixer on low speed until mixed well.
  • Pour into a greased, 9x13 inch pan.
  • Mix together the cream cheese, remaining 2 eggs and powdered sugar with an electric mixer on low speed until blended, beat an additional 30 seconds.
  • Pour over cake mixture.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
  • Let cool.
  • Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.

  • Combine all cake base ingredients and mix well.
  • Pat into lightly greasted 13x9 baking pan.
  • Prepare filling.
  • Beat cream cheese until smooth.
  • Add eggs and vanilla.
  • Add butter and beat.
  • Add powdered sugar and mix well.
  • Pour over cake mixture.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes.
  • You want the center to be a little gooey, so make sure not to overbake.

1 c nuts
1 box powdered sugar
1 pkg cream cheese, 8 ounces

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2. Melt butter. Mix butter, one egg, cake mix and nuts. I use walnuts or pecans. This will be the consistency of pastry. Press into a 9x13 inch greased pan.
  • 3. Mix powdered sugar, two eggs and cream cheese. Pour over bottom layer and bake until lightly golden brown. Do not over bake. Will be slightly loose while hot. Bake 35-40 minutes.
