Steps:
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy and light; this should take about 5 minutes with an electric mixer, or 10 minutes by hand. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla and mix well.
- Sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add the flour mixture alternately to the butter and sugar mixture with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
- Cover the dough tightly with plastic wrap and foil and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight. (If the dough is chilled overnight, let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before rolling out so that task is easier.)
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough using a floured rolling pin to about 1/4" thickness. Cut with cookie cutters.
- Or you can roll the dough into 1" balls, place on cookie sheets and flatten with the bottom of a water glass dipped in sugar.
- Bake the cookies on ungreased cookie sheets for 7 to 10 minutes until they are very lightly golden brown around the edges. Let the cookies cool on the cookie sheets for about a minute, then remove to wire rack to cool completely. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.

- Top each cookie with 3 chocolate chips, a single almond, or raisins.
- Bake the cookies for 30 minutes, or until the bottoms are light golden brown and the edges are crispy.

GRANDMA BECKY'S SUGAR COOKIES
This is an excellent cookie to make when you don't have many ingredients on hand in the cupboard and the kids are yelling for a snack. This is a nice soft sugar cookie! And they stay soft for days!! Note: If you don't have self rising flour and all you have in your pantry is All Purpose, then you will want to add 5 teaspoons of baking powder and 1 teaspoon of salt to this recipe!!

Steps:
- In large bowl beat together the eggs, oil, vanilla and the sugar. Mix well making sure the sugar is all dissolved.
- Add the flour and mix well. Batter will be a tad bit runny. This is ok you will not be rolling out this cookie anyway.
- Line your cookie sheets with parchment paper and drop cookies by heaping tablespoon (I use the smaller scoop from pampered chef for mine, not the ice cream size...the smaller one)at least 2" apart. Sprinkle sugar on the tops of the cookie dough. I bake 9 cookies at a time.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 6 to 7 minutes or until light golden brown on bottoms. Do not overbake this cookie! I bake mine for exactly 7 minutes! Let cool on cookie sheet a few minutes before removing to counter. Store in an airtight container
