PRIZE WINNING OATMEAL DROP COOKIES

Prize Winning Oatmeal Drop Cookies image

This is a special cookie. I decided to whip up a batch in variation and the winner was with the added ingredient of 1 cup of raisins. As of today, I see daily as I walk into my kitchen a decorated jar with 3 of my winning cookies along with my Red Ribbon attached displayed since the year of 1991. You may use , raisins, chocolate chips, M & M candies or coconut instead of the walnuts if you wish.

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

Chocolate Chip Cookies image

The best chocolate chip cookies are soft in the middle and a little crispy around the edges-extra chocolate and lots of brown sugar! These chocolate chip cookies are easy and your family will love them!

Provided by Lucy Brewer

Categories     Cookies

Time P1DT12h45m

Number Of Ingredients 11

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (Do not use margarine or any butter substitute. I only use Land O Lakes unsalted butter.)
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
3 teaspoons vanilla
1 12- ounce package semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 12- ounce package milk chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in medium bowl to blend.
  • Using electric or stand mixer, beat butter in large bowl until light and fluffy. Add white sugar and brown sugar and beat until well blended. (You should be creaming the butter 5-7 minutes until the texture and color are both light.)
  • Add eggs and vanilla and beat until mixture is creamy and well blended. Gradually add flour mixture, stirring just until blended.
  • Pour half of chocolate chips into the bottom of a large bowl and then add half the dough on top of the chips. Stir dough and chips together, then add more chips and more dough until all is mixed together.
  • For best results, cover and place dough in refrigerator for 24-36 hours. **You can bake these cookies immediately if you wish.
  • When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350 and line cookie sheet with parchment paper or non-stick baking mat.
  • Scoop heaping tablespoons of dough and roll into a ball and place on cookie sheet, giving each cookie plenty of room. Mine are usually big enough to get about 8 balls on a cookie sheet. Bake for 9-11 minutes until light brown on top and slightly brown around the edges.
  • Note: alternatively, you can bake at 325 for 13-15 minutes for a paler, more gooey cookie.
  • Cool slightly on cookie sheet. Transfer cookies to racks; cool completely.

25 AWARD WINNING COOKIE AND CANDY RECIPES TO ENSURE …

From morningchores.com
Estimated Reading Time 7 mins
  • Dishpan Cookies. I’m fully convinced that this recipe came about from someone just throwing things together. That being said, it turned out perfectly and is now being shared by Debbie Quimby over at Just a Pinch.
  • Blue Ribbon Chocolate Chip Cookies. You know it’s great when you can take a traditional cookie that will leave the judges wondering what makes it so special until they taste it.
  • Carrot Cake Cookies. Any time you make a cookie and add icing to it, you know it’s a winner. After all, we eat with our eyes first and many people have eyes that say, “Ooohhhh, icing, yum!”
  • Cookies and Cream. Dare I say, a cookie within a cookie! This one has already won because it combines one thing we all love and does it two different ways.
  • Strawberry Lilies. The cookies are soft, made with cream cheese and the strawberry jelly poking out of the top makes it that much more beautiful. If we make them next year, I am going to have my students fold the cookies to look like envelopes and call the cookies “Love notes”.
  • Texas Sheet Cake Cookies. I chose this one because it did win at the Johnson County Fair this year. I can understand why because I love Texas sheet cake and it represents what we stand for to some extent.
  • Monster Cookies. I think if we do this, one I might add a few more ingredients and call it trail mix cookies since it already has M&Ms and raisins in them.
  • Turtle Thumbprint Cookies. I love traditional turtle recipes with the caramel, nuts, and chocolate. Turning them into a cookie is a great idea, similar to that of the Texas sheet cake.
  • Mississippi Mud Cookies. So, we are stuck on the chocolate and nuts. But some homemade marshmallows (if you’re feeling extra adventurous) would make a delicious cookie for all to love.
  • Blueberry Cheesecake Macarons. I am ninety-nine percent sure that someone will be making macarons next year. You know why? Because I have several classes that asks to make them on a regular basis.

2015-01-09 I made ALL of the Pillsbury Bake-Off Grand Prize Winners in one year! 52 in 52 weeks! Plus the 2014 winner. That was a lot of baking people. Lots of flour, sugar, butter and eggs! And of course, lots of Pillsbury dough. Too bad I didn’t win the million in the last 2 bake-offs but being a part of this historical contest 2 years in a row was quite an honor for me and a whole lot of fun too.
