A simple sauté of fresh beans with lightly fried garlic and a touch of olive oil makes a healthy, versatile side

300g green bean , trimmed
2 garlic cloves , sliced
2 tbsp olive oil

Steps:

  • Cook the green beans in boiling water for 2-3 mins until just tender, then drain well and steam-dry for a min.
  • Meanwhile, gently fry the garlic in the oil until pale golden - no further. Toss with the beans, season and serve.

1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 small red onion, sliced
2 (14.5 ounce) cans French-style green beans, drained
1 (14.5 ounce) can bean sprouts, drained

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine vinegar, oil, sugar, garlic powder, onion, green beans and bean sprouts. Cover and marinate overnight in the refrigerator.

1 (10 ounce) can mung bean sprouts, drained
1 red onion, sliced
½ cup vegetable oil
½ cup white sugar
½ cup distilled white vinegar
1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • Mix together vinegar, oil, sugar, and garlic powder. Add onion. Mix beans and bean sprouts into the vinegar and oil mixture. Cover and marinate overnight before serving.

20 ounce(s) packaged frozen green beans
4 slice(s) bacon, diced
2/3 cup(s) chopped onion
1 tablespoon(s) all purpose flour
1 tablespoon(s) sugar
1/2 cup(s) half and half
1/4 cup(s) mayonnaise
1/2 cup(s) battered ritz cracker crumbs

Steps:

  • Cook green beans according to package directions; omitting salt; drain. Cook bacon in a large skillet until crisp. Remove bacon with a slotted spoon, reserving drippings. Saute onion in drippings until tender; remove onion, and set aside.
  • Add flour and sugar to bacon ; cook over low heat one minute, stirring well. add milk, cook stirring constantly until thickened. stir in mayonnaise, green beans, bacon, and onion. Spoon into a lightly greased 1 1/2quart casserole. sprinkle top evenly with shredded cheese and buttered cracker crumbs. bake at 350 fereinheit for 20 minutes. serve
