GLUTEN-FREE HONEY LEMON MARGARITA



Gluten-Free Honey Lemon Margarita image

Fresh, light and lemony margarita sweetened with a touch of honey.

1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup hot water
1/2 oz (1 tablespoon) Honey Syrup
1 oz (2 tablespoons) blanco tequila
1/2 oz clear orange-flavored liqueur
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
Lemon slices, if desired

Steps:

  • To make Honey Syrup, mix honey and hot water. Makes 1/2 cup.
  • To make margarita, add 1/2 oz of the honey syrup, the tequila, orange-flavored liqueur and lemon juice to cocktail shaker. Fill shaker with ice; cover and shake vigorously. Strain into cocktail glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with lemon slices.

1 ounce barenjager honey liqueur

Steps:

  • Before making the drink, wet the rim of a margarita glass with lime juice, and dip it in coarse salt. Fill with ice.
  • Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Strain into the rimmed margarita glass with fresh ice.

  • Begin by making a simple syrup. Add the water and honey to a small saucepan. Set over medium heat and stir occasionally, until the honey has completely dissolved into the water. Remove from the heat and set aside. Let the syrup cool completely before proceeding. You can make this in advance and store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
  • In a medium bowl or a large liquid measuring cup, add the honey simple syrup, lime and lemon zest, lime and lemon juice and salt. Mix to combine then cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or up to 24 hours.
  • Strain the juice mixture into a pitcher (and discard the zest). Add the tequila and triple sec to the pitcher and stir to combine.
  • Use salt or sugar to rim the serving glasses if desired. Fill each glass with some ice cubes. Pour the margarita mixture over the ice and serve immediately.
