TROPICAL GINGER PUNCH

Pass a pitcher of this punch at a party, at dinner, or with a bowl of chips! Taken from Everyday Food. Just a heads up; this recipe can be easily reduced for 2 or 4. *Cook time is chill time*

3 cups orange juice
3 cups pineapple juice
1 tablespoon finely grated peeled fresh ginger
2 cups vodka
4 cups chilled ginger ale (or club soda)
orange wedge, for garnish (optional)

Steps:

  • In a large pitcher, stir together orange juice, pineapple juice, ginger, and vodka.
  • Refrigerate until cold, at least 1 hour (and up to 1 week).
  • Just before serving, stir in ginger ale.
  • Serve over ice, garnished with orange wedges, if desired.

3 ounces ginger, 8-inch piece, fresh, peeled and chopped (Adrak)
1 cup sugar (Cheeni)
3 cups water, cold (or Club Soda)
1 cup lemon juice, fresh (Nimbu Ka Raas)
1 1/2 cups orange juice, fresh (Santra Ka Raas)
12 ice cubes

Steps:

  • Combine ginger, sugar and 1 cup of water in a heavy deep-pan and bring to boil.
  • Lower the heat and simmer, uncovered, for about 15 minutes.
  • Strain the mixture into another pan and allow to cool.
  • Now add lemon juice and orange juice and refrigerate until needed.
  • Just before serving, add cold water or club soda and ice-cubes.

1 (64 fluid ounce) bottle fruit punch, chilled
1 (64 fluid ounce) bottle unsweetened pineapple juice, chilled
1 (2 liter) bottle ginger ale, chilled
½ gallon orange sherbet

Steps:

  • In a punch bowl, mix together fruit punch, pineapple juice and ginger ale. Add scoops of sherbet into the punch. Wait for the sherbet to begin melting, approximately 10 minutes, stir gently, and serve.
