HONEY-LEMON GINGER TEA

Honey-Lemon Ginger Tea image

I visited a coffee shop in Hartford on a cold winter day and ordered their honey lemon ginger tea. It was tart, sweet, full of flavor, and warmed me from head to toe. The proprietor was nice enough to give me a rough description of her recipe. After a few tries at home, I came up with this close version.

GINGER CITRUS TEA

Ginger Citrus Tea image

I already had a recipe for extremely spicy ginger tea, but I was craving something a bit milder this time. So, I constructed a tea out of dried ginger pieces, dried orange peel and dried lemon peel. I've seen tons of recipes similar to this that require fresh lemon/orange juice/ginger but this recipe would be perfect for someone who only keeps the dried stuff on hand (like me!). P.S. - I've listed things as teaspoons, but technically it's in a ratio such that you can make whatever quantity you want.

HONEY CITRON TEA FROM SCRATCH

Honey Citron Tea from Scratch image

Korean Honey Citron Tea is an herbal drink made with yuzu or yuja fruit.

Provided by Jee Choe

Categories     Drinks

Time 7m

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 large yuzus or 4 small yuzus ((about 1 cup of sliced yuzu))
½ cup sugar
¼ cup honey

Steps:

  • Clean and slice citron fruit. Discard the seeds.Since we're using the entire fruit including the peel, make sure it's thoroughly cleaned. I like to clean it by spraying it with vinegar then scrubbing it clean under running water. Cut citron in half, then in thin slices.
  • Mix all ingredients in a bowl.In a bowl, mix together the sliced yuzu, sugar, and honey until well combined. The honey and sugar will break down the yuzu peel, making it soft.
  • Stir 1 tablespoon of citron tea in a cup of hot water.Citron fruit peel can be eaten.

Provided by Jolinda Hackett

Categories     Beverage

Time 25m

Yield 2

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 tablespoons ginger root (fresh, raw; about 2 inches of ginger root)
4 cups water
Optional: 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice ( juice of 1/2 lime )
1 to 2 tablespoons honey (to taste)

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Prepare the fresh ginger by peeling it and slicing it thinly to maximize the surface area. This will help you make a very flavorful ginger tea.
  • In a 1 1/4-quart pot, add the water and ginger, and bring to a boil for at least 10 minutes. For a stronger and tangier tea, allow to boil for 20 minutes or more, and use more slices of ginger.
  • Remove it from the heat, strain, and add the lime juice and honey to taste. Enjoy your ginger tea.
