This bread is loaded with garlic flavor, has a wonderful consistency, and is guaranteed to keep vampires away. Time includes rising.

1 (2 1/2 teaspoon) package active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 cup cottage cheese, warmed (preferably small curd)
6 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 large egg
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon dried oregano
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon garlic or 1 teaspoon onion salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Soften the yeast in the water in a large bowl.
  • Add the cottage cheese, garlic, egg, oil, oregano, sugar, salt, and baking soda and stir well.
  • Add the flour to the mixture, blend well, and put in a warm place to rise, loosely covered, until doubled in size.
  • Stir the dough down and turn out into a well-greased, 2-quart casserole dish. Let rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F
  • Bake the bread for 40 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned, then let rest for 10 minutes. Slice and serve warm.
  • Note: If you wish, you can add some chopped fresh parsley, savory, or basil (1/2 teaspoon each) for a tasty garlic-herb bread.

1 bunch green onion, chopped

Steps:

  • Split bread lengthwise. Mix ingredients and spread on bread. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until bubbly on a cookie sheet.

1 1/2 stick butter, do not use margarine
6 Tbsp mayonaise, do nott use salad dressing
3 clove garlic, use a garlic press, do not use garlic powder
2 Tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
1/4 tsp dried oregano, crumpled
3/4 c parmesan cheese, grated
1 loaf french bread, cut lengthwise

Steps:

  • 1. Combine first 6 ingredients in a medium bowl. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spread garlic butter mixture on cut side of bread. Wrap each bread half in foil. Place bread on baking sheet, cut side up. Bake 20 minutes. Remove foil from bread. Preheat broiler, broil cut side up until brown. about 2 minutes.

3 3/4 cups bread flour
1 tablespoon dried basil
1 3/4 teaspoons bread machine yeast or 1 3/4 teaspoons fast rising yeast

Steps:

  • Measure ingredients into baking pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Insert pan into the oven chamber.
  • Select Basic Cycle; press start.
  • When the baking cycle ends, immediately remove the bread from the pan and place it on a rack.
  • Let cool to room temperature before slicing.
