HALLOWEEN EYEBALL RECIPE: GIANT EDIBLE COW EYEBALLS

HALLOWEEN EYEBALL RECIPE: GIANT EDIBLE COW EYEBALLS image

Looking for the perfect Halloween eyeball recipe? This edible eyeball recipe is tasty and gross at the same time. The perfect spooky Halloween treat!

Provided by Marissa

Time 5h

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 cans coconut milk, unsweetened
2/3 cup water
1/2 cup white sugar
2 tsp agar agar
red, blue, and green gel food coloring

Steps:

  • Place a pea-sized amount of each red, green, and blue food coloring in the bottom of a small, heat-safe mixing bowl. Set aside.
  • Pour all the coconut milk and water in a medium saucepan (you want it to equal 4 cups, total). Add 2 tsp of agar agar and whisk until it is all incorporated into the coconut milk.
  • Place over medium-high heat and bring to a gentle boil, reducing heat once it boils to bring it to a simmer.
  • Add the 1/2 cup sugar and stir until all the sugar is dissolved. At this point, give the mixture a little taste and see if it is sweet enough for you. If not, add sugar by the tbsp until it is sweet enough, stir until dissolved, then remove from heat.
  • Remove 1/4 + 1/8 cup of the agar agar mixture and place into the bowl with the food coloring. Whisk until the mixture is black and place 1 tbsp each into the bottom of the six spherical molds (put them all on a cookie sheet for easy moving). Put all molds into the refrigerator to cool.
  • After about 15-30 minutes, check and see if the black mixture has set. If it has, begin adding the rest of the white agar agar/coconut mixture on top of the black mixture evenly across the rest of the six molds, leaving a small amount of space at the top. (Note that if the mixture in the pan has started to solidify, you can reheat to make liquid again).
  • Once all the molds have been filled, place the lids carefully on each mold and press down gently. Put back in the fridge.
  • Allow to chill several hours until eyeballs are fully set. Repeat with the remaining mixture for two more eyeballs if desired. Remove and serve as desired.

GUMMY EYEBALLS

Gummy Eyeballs image

Provided by Trisha Yearwood

Time 1h35m

Yield 12 eyeballs

Number Of Ingredients 8

Nonstick cooking spray, for the plastic egg holder
12 semisweet chocolate chips
Two 1/4-ounce packets powdered unflavored gelatin
5 drops blue gel food coloring
3/4 cup coconut milk
1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar
2 teaspoons vodka
3 drops red gel food coloring

Steps:

  • Lightly spray a hard plastic 12-hole egg holder/carton with nonstick cooking spray. Place a chocolate chip flat-side down into each hole of the egg holder to form pupils.
  • In a small mixing bowl, mix 1 packet of gelatin with 1/4 cup cold water, mixing until combined and free of lumps. Heat 1/2 cup water in the microwave for 1 minute, until hot. Pour the hot water into the cool gelatin mixture and whisk until the gelatin is dissolved completely. Stir in the blue food coloring. Using a pipette or eyedropper, drop 3 to 4 drops of blue gelatin around each chocolate chip to form the blue iris of each eye. Place the egg holder into the freezer for 30 minutes, until the blue is set.
  • Meanwhile, mix the remaining packet of gelatin with 1/4 cup cold coconut milk in a small bowl. Add the confectioners' sugar and whisk until the mixture is free of lumps. Heat the remaining 1/2 cup coconut milk in the microwave for 1 minute, until hot. Pour the hot milk into the cool gelatin mixture and whisk until the gelatin is dissolved completely. Allow this mixture to cool for about 5 minutes, so that you do not melt the pupil and iris.
  • Remove the egg holder from the freezer and carefully spoon about 2 teaspoons of the coconut mixture into each eye until the chocolate chip is covered. Return the egg holder to the freezer for 30 minutes more, until the gelatin is set.
  • To remove the gummies, gently push each eyeball with a fingertip until loosened from the egg holder. Place the gummy eyeballs onto a serving platter.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine the vodka and red food coloring. Dip the tip of a tiny paintbrush into the mixture and carefully paint veins onto the eyeballs by drawing curved lines from the bottom of each gummy into the center of the iris. Allow the veins to dry for 2 minutes. Serve immediately.

EYEBALL JELLO SHOTS

Eyeball Jello Shots image

Eyeball Jello Shots are the perfect boozy Halloween treat for adults. They can be made in a blink of an eye. They giggle, are chewy and a bit gooey for a one-of-a-kind spooky treat.

Categories     Recipes

Time 1h15m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 Box Strawberry Jello
1 Cup Boiling Water
1 Cup Cold Water
1 Cup Vodka
Gummy Eyeball Candies
Mini Plastic Shot Glasses
Mini Plastic Spiders
Hot Glue

Steps:

  • Start by gluing the tiny toy spiders onto the outside of the plastic shot glasses. This isn't necessary but gives it an added creepy look.
  • Following the instructions on the package, bring your Jello mix and 1 cup of water to a boil.
  • Next, add your other cup of water and a cup of Vodka and stir well.
  • Use a funnel to pour the mixture into the plastic shot glasses filling them almost all of the way full.
  • Carefully place these into the fridge and allow to set for a least an hour (overnight is best). It is easier to transport these on a cookie sheet.
  • Once set, add the gummy eyeball on top.
  • Serve and enjoy!

  • Prepare the ice ball molds by spraying lightly with cooking spray and then wiping clean with a paper towel. (This will leave a slight residue, which will assist in unmolding without affecting the taste or appearance of the jello shots.) Close molds so they are sealed tightly, leaving the top plug open. Set molds on a tray for easy transport to the refrigerator after filling.
  • Pour tonic water into a small saucepan, and sprinkle with gelatin. Allow to soak for a minute or two.
  • Heat over low, stirring constantly, until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Add sugar and stir until sugar is dissolved (another minute or so).

  • Place 1/2 cup of grape juice in a small bowl. Sprinkle the gelatin on top and whisk it in. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes so the gelatin softens and absorbs some of the juice. Microwave the bowl for 20 seconds to liquefy the gelatin. If it's not fully liquid and clear after 20 seconds, microwave in 5-second increments just until melted. You don't want the gelatin mixture to get hot.
  • Combine the remaining grape juice and the ginger ale in a large measuring cup or pitcher with a spout. Whisk them together, then continue gently whisking as you pour the gelatin in. Pour the juice into 16 shot glasses, leaving a margin at the top since you'll be adding eyeballs later.
  • Refrigerate the shot glasses for about 30 minutes—check their texture every 10 minutes. You want the gelatin to start getting thick, like cake batter texture. It shouldn't be set and firm, but it should be thick enough to suspend an eyeball in the middle of the glass. Depending on the temperature of your ingredients and your refrigerator, this process can take anywhere from 30-50 minutes. Just check the glasses regularly and don't be afraid to check the texture with a spoon or with your finger.
  • When the gelatin is thick enough, press an eyeball into the middle of the shot glass. You can use a thin knife or spatula to push it down into the gelatin, or just use your finger. Try to position it against the front glass, so it shows through clearly. Add a second eyeball, if you'd like. Continue until all of the shot glasses have floating eyeballs.
