My friend got this recipe out of the Pampered Chef catalog but she modified it some and made it better. She told me she added a few shakes of garlic powder and a few shakes of onion powder. Well I copied her recipe down and tweaked it to ingredients. It's been tested in my kitchen and it's good.

1 (8 ounce) can refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
1/2 cup regular cream cheese spread
1/4 cup grated fresh parmesan cheese (1 oz.)
4 teaspoons snipped fresh rosemary
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1 pinch salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven at 375 degrees.
  • Separate dough into four rectangles.
  • Press edges to seal.
  • In a small bow mix cream cheese and the grated parmesan cheese.
  • Snip the rosemary with kitchen shears and add to cream cheese mixture.
  • Add garlic powder, onion powder and salt and mix well.
  • Spread each rectangle with about 2 tablespoons of cheese mixture to within 1/4 inch of the edges.
  • Starting at short side roll each rectangle up and pinch edges to seal.
  • Take out and then with a serrated knife cut each rectangle into six pieces for a total of 24 pieces.
  • Places slices with the cut side down on your baking stone or cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a nice golden brown.
  • Remove from oven and place on a cooling rack.
  • These are best served warm.

These were made at the last Pampered Chef show I attended. These are a wonderful appetizer for any occasion.

1 roll Pillsbury Refrigerated Crescent Dinner Rolls
1 (8 ounce) container philadelphia whipped cream cheese
1/3 cup fresh parmesan cheese, shredded
4 teaspoons fresh rosemary sprigs (or 2 teaspoon dried rosemary)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F
  • Do not separate dough into triangles. Gently press or roll seams to seal, but do not flatten.
  • In small bowl, mix cream cheese, parmesan cheese, and rosemary.
  • Spread mixture over dough.
  • Roll up dough from the long side. Slice into 1/2 inch rolls.
  • Please pinwheels flat onto cookie sheet or baking stone.
  • Bake 12 - 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Serve warm.

These are so quick and easy to make and very tasty with lots of things. I got this recipe out of our newspaper and it calls for rosemary but you may use other herbs that you like. Dry basil or Italian seasoning is good to go with spaghetti and meatballs. Also, a little sprinkle of garlic salt/powder is good, too. You can double the recipe and freeze the second batch, unbaked, on a cookie sheet. Then seal in a plastic bag and keep frozen up to a month. Bake them frozen for 10-15 minutes, till golden.

1 sheet frozen puff pastry (thawed, from 17 1/4-ounce package)
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
1/4 cup full shredded parmesan cheese
1 1/2 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary (or 1 tablespoon of dried)
1/4-1/2 teaspoon fresh coarse ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees; line two baking shees with parchment paper.
  • Roll puff pastry into a 10x14-inch rectangle.
  • Whisk egg and water together and brush on pastry.
  • Sprinkle with parmesan cheese, rosemary, and pepper pressing lightly into pastry with fingers.
  • Cut the pastry into 24 strips, each slightly more than 1/2" wide.
  • Twist each strip and place on baking sheet.
  • Bake 10-12 minutes till golden.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature.
  • NOTE: For 2 sticks--30 calories--2g fat--1g protein--0g fiber--50mg sodium.

2 tablespoons butter, room temperature
2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
6 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 1/4 cups parmesan cheese, grated
5 large garlic cloves, minced
1 baguette

Steps:

  • Blend butter and rosemary in processor.
  • Gradually add oil and process until incorporated.
  • Mix in Parmesan cheese.
  • (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate; bring to room temperature before continuing.)
  • Mix in garlic.
  • Cut the baguette in half lengthwise, then crosswise (4 pieces total).
  • Score each piece diagonally 3/4-inch deep at 1 1/2-inch intervals.
  • Prepare barbecue (medium-high heat) or preheat oven to 400°F
  • Spread cheese mixture over cut sides of bread.
  • If grilling, wrap each piece of bread loosely in foil.
  • Grill in foil until bread is crusty and golden, about 8 minutes.
  • If baking, place bread cut side up on baking sheet.
  • Bake until bread is crisp and golden around edges, about 10 minutes.
  • Serve bread warm.

  • Punch risen dough down and divide into 12 portions. Roll each portion into a 10 to 12-in long rope and tie each rope into a knot, tucking the ends underneath. Place knots on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and allow to rise 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
  • While rolls are rising, prepare the topping: In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, saute garlic in butter until garlic is just fragrant. Remove from heat and gently brush over doubled-in-size rolls. Sprinkle rosemary and Parmesan cheese over tops of each roll.
