GARLIC GINGER SESAME MARINATED CHICKEN

Garlic Ginger Sesame Marinated Chicken image

Garlic Ginger Sesame Marinated Chicken is delicious and easy to make! Chicken breasts are marinated in sauce, and cooked on a BBQ or indoor grill pan!

Provided by JB @ The Grateful Girl Cooks!

Categories     Entree

Time 1h21m

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 medium boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/4 cup toasted sesame oil
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
3 Tablespoons fresh ginger (, finely grated)
2 stems green onion (, minced)
3 Tablespoons garlic cloves (, minced)

Steps:

  • Place grated fresh ginger, toasted sesame oil, vegetable oil, minced green onion (scallions), and minced garlic cloves into a blender. Blend these ingredients for about 30 seconds, or until mixture is fully blended and fairly smooth.
  • Pour (scraping blender clean) the marinade into a large re-sealable bag or shallow container. Add the chicken breasts to the marinade, and turn to coat them completely with marinade. Seal bag or cover container, and place in refrigerator to marinate for AT LEAST 1 hour.
  • After chicken has marinated for at least an hour, spray a grill (off heat) with non-stick baking spray or generously brush with oil. Heat grill on medium-high temperature until really hot, but not smoking. Transfer chicken to the grill. It should sizzle when it hits grill. Once chicken is on grill, do not disturb or move it. After about 8-10 minutes, flip chicken over to the other side. TIP:**Cooking times will vary due to different thicknesses of chicken breasts. Check the internal temperature by inserting a meat thermometer into thickest part of the breast. Chicken is done when internal temp. is 165° F. Remove chicken from grill and let it "rest" for a couple minutes, to let juices redistribute within the meat before serving. For THICK chicken breasts: After 8-10 minutes, the bottom of the chicken breast should be nice and golden brown. After you flip the chicken over, set a timer for 8 minutes and check for internal temperature. I used thick breasts and they took 18 minutes total to fully cook. For THIN chicken breasts: Thin cutlet type chicken breasts will obviously cook a LOT faster than thicker ones (they may only take 3-4 minutes per side).
  • Serve... and enjoy!

GINGER AND SESAME MARINADE

Ginger and Sesame Marinade image

Fresh ginger juice adds a particular zing to a marinade: the fragrant, hot flavour penetrates into meat, poultry, fish and seafood, while helping to tenderise at the same time. The sesame seeds in this recipe add texture, the fish sauce adds saltiness, and the sweet-and-sour blend of sugar and lime juice completes the Asian credentials of this marinade. Can be used to prepare- 4 Beef steaks or 4 Lamb steaks or 4 Pork chops or 6 Chicken breasts or 6 Fish steaks and fillets or 4 Duck breasts or 2lbs of jumbo shrimp. Time does not include marinating.

Provided by English_Rose

Categories     Meat

Time 15m

Yield 1 cup

Number Of Ingredients 6

5 in fresh gingerroot, peeled and grated
4 tablespoons lime juice or 4 tablespoons rice vinegar
3 tablespoons fish sauce or 3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 1/2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
1 tablespoon soft brown sugar

Steps:

  • The marinade- Put the ginger in a fine sieve, or a sieve lined with muslin, and press the juice into a bowl.
  • You need to extract 7 tbs ginger juice - add a little water to the ginger pulp and squeeze again if necessary. Add the remaining ingredients, except the sugar, and stir to mix.
  • Put the meat or seafood in a non-metallic shallow dish and rub the marinade all over. For meat, cover and leave in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight. Fish and shrimp only need marinating for up to 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  • Remember to give the marinated food at least 20 minutes to return to room temperature before cooking.
  • To cook- While cooking the food, season and baste it with the marinade. Before brushing the final few strokes on, add the sugar and stir to dissolve; this helps glaze the food, but if the sugar is added too soon, it will burn and stick.

GARLIC GINGER SESAME MARINADE

Garlic Ginger Sesame Marinade image

I've been making this marinade for 25yrs. It's always, always a big hit. You can add whatever side you like, I've made coconut lime rice and then sliced up the mushrooms and added into the rice. It's amazing. Great for grille parties with family and friends. I promise, this will be the star of the event. It's that good.

Provided by Angie Forsberg

Categories     Other Main Dishes

Time 5h30m

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 bottle soy sauce, low sodium
3/4 c olive oil, extra virgin
1 tsp sesame oil
1 c sugar
3 Tbsp black pepper
3 Tbsp sesame seeds
2-4 Tbsp fresh ginger minced
18 - 23 clove garlic
3-4 bunch scallions

Steps:

  • 1. Add liquids soy sauce, olive oil, and seasme oil.
  • 2. Then add dry ingredients, sugar, and black pepper, mix well. it will take a while for the sugar to disolve.
  • 3. Then mince garlic, its usually 2-3 bulbs garlic for 18 cloves. Mince fresh ginger, and cut up scallions.
  • 4. Add whatever meat you'd like, it works great for chicken, shrimp, steak, and if you'd prefer vegetables, it works. It's amazing with portobello mushrooms. Pictured above. Let marinade for 2 - 12hrs. Depending on how seasoned you would like your meat or veggies. Reason I list 2 - 12 hrs. I've marinated 2 hrs for a more mild flavor and longer for an explosion of flavor. If marinating several different meats, they should all be in separate bowls.

  • Ginger-Chicken Meatballs with Chinese Broccoli. Ground chicken is leaner than other meats, but less fat doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice flavor thanks to all the aromatics.
  • Kung Pao Cauliflower. Searing the cauliflower in this recipe before marinating softens the cauliflower, which opens up the florets and creates more surface area for the marinade to stick to.
  • Hillstone's Thai Steak and Noodle Salad. Perhaps a less traditional use for this trifecta, but this salad is a multicourse meal on a plate. Its dramatic presentation is part of the allure.
  • Aromatic Wilted Greens with Coconut Milk. Finishing this dish with coconut milk retains its sweet flavor. View Recipe.
  • Gochujang-Braised Chicken and Crispy Rice. Nothing spices up that garlic-ginger-scallion mix quite like adding some gochujang. View Recipe.
  • Curried Meatballs. This Indian dish utilizes plenty of fresh ginger and 16 garlic cloves. View Recipe.
  • Rye Whiskey Stir-Fry. A twist on the traditional garlic-ginger-scallion stir-fry base? Whiskey, of course! And it also gives you an excuse to light it on fire if you’re into kitchen pyrotechnics.
  • Basic Bulgogi. Garlic and ginger are needed for this quick marinade, while sliced scallions make everything pretty. View Recipe.
  • Aromatic Shrimp and Noodle Medicine Soup. Garlic is used for the broth, ginger is used for both the broth and paste, and scallions help pull it all together.
