8 fresh basil leaves
8 cloves garlic
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
2 tablespoons canola oil
2 tablespoons olive oil, or as needed

Steps:

  • Combine basil leaves, garlic, and red pepper flakes in a food processor or blender. Pulse 3 to 4 times. Slowly pour in canola oil and olive oil and blend until thick and creamy, about 30 seconds. Add additional oil if needed to make the spread smoother.

1/4 cup butter
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
1-1/2 teaspoons minced fresh basil or 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 loaf (8 ounces) French bread

Steps:

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter, parsley, basil and garlic. Cover and microwave until butter is melted. Stir in cheese., Cut the bread in half lengthwise; place cut side down on an uncovered grill over medium heat for 2 minutes or until lightly toasted. Brush cut side with the butter mixture. Grill or broil 1-2 minutes longer.

1/4 cup roasted red peppers
5 pitted black olives, chopped
1 tub (12 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese Spread
1/4 cup lightly packed fresh basil
1 clove garlic, peeled
2 Tbsp. sliced almonds, toasted
round buttery crackers

Steps:

  • Cut star shape from 1 pepper, using 1/2-inch cookie cutter; set aside. Chop pepper trimmings and remaining peppers; mix with olives.
  • Blend cream cheese spread, basil and garlic in blender until smooth. Wash cream cheese tub; line with plastic wrap, with ends extending over side of tub.
  • Spoon 1/2 cup cream cheese mixture into tub; top with olive mixture and remaining cream cheese mixture. Press firmly into tub with back of spoon.
  • Refrigerate 1 hour. Unmold cheese spread onto plate; discard plastic wrap. Top cheese spread with nuts and pepper star. Serve with crackers.

This basil spread is great on sandwiches instead of using plain mayo. The Wholefoods market I go to uses it on some of their sandwiches but I have not made it myself. The recipe comes from their "American Summer Style" recipe booklet. In the booklet it is used on their grilled veggie sandwich but I have had it on their salmon sandwich among many others and it is very good.

1 head garlic
1 (19 ounce) can white kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
4 teaspoons white wine vinegar or 4 teaspoons cider vinegar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8-1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped

Steps:

  • separate and peel cloves of garlic.
  • In saucepan of boiling water, blanch garlic for 1 minute, drain (or if preferred, roast garlic).
  • In food processor or blender or bowl, and using a fork, mash garlic, beans, oil, vinegar, salt and pepper until smooth.
  • Stir in basil.

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • In ​a food processor , combine the basil and garlic. Process until finely chopped. Add cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, walnuts, olive oil, and a few turns of ground black pepper. Process until smooth.

½ cup butter, softened
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 cloves garlic, minced
¼ teaspoon dried marjoram
¼ teaspoon dried basil
¼ teaspoon fines herbs
¼ teaspoon dried oregano
ground black pepper to taste
¼ teaspoon dried parsley, or to taste
1 loaf unsliced Italian bread

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a bowl, mix together the butter, Parmesan cheese, garlic, marjoram, basil, fines herbs mix, oregano, black pepper, and parsley until thoroughly combined. Split the Italian bread loaf in half lengthwise, and spread each half generously with the butter mixture.
  • Bake the garlic bread on the top rack of the preheated oven until the butter mixture melts and bubbles, 10 to 15 minutes; turn on the broiler, and broil until the bread is your desired shade of golden brown, 1 to 2 more minutes.

  • Cut the sprouted tofu in half. Soak as much water out from each sprouted tofu half as possible. I use paper towels to squeeze out the water, especially since you don't need to worry about keeping the tofu in tact. Depending on how much water remains in the tofu after squeezing it out, you may or may not need to add additional water into the mix while blending.
  • Add the tofu, along with all the other ingredients, except for the additional water, into a food processor.
  • Pulse a few times until you come to a thick, yet somewhat smooth consistency. The basil leaves should not be completely blended in and the tofu should not become a puree (in other words, the final mixture should still be white in color from the tofu with the basil very finely chopped and mixed in).
  • Feel free to add 1-2 tbsp water if needed for consistency or to aid with the blending process. The final consistency should be a very thick, spreadable mixture and NOT pour-able (if it is, then your mixture contains too much water and/or you blended for too long).
