HOMEMADE, ECO CARPET FRESH/DEODORIZER

Homemade, Eco Carpet Fresh/Deodorizer image

Provided by Tessa

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 3

Baking soda: I buy a large bag at my local Costco for under $5.
Essential oils of your preference
Smelly herbs: It's not necessary

Steps:

  • I pour a bit of soda into a quart size mason jar, then use a few drops of preferred essential oil, followed by more soda, then repeat. How much essential oil you use is totally dependent upon your own nose: mine likes it pretty strong! 20 drops total should be plenty!
  • I give it a thorough shake and store in a closed mason jar within my cleaning caddy, ready to go!

DIAPER PAIL ODOR! 18 EASY IDEAS TO SLAY THE ODOR BEAST ...

From yourclothdiaper.com
Estimated Reading Time 6 mins
  • Empty the contents of a poopy diaper into the toilet and rinse before putting the diaper into the pail. Ammonia from urine is bad enough, but feces on top of that is just plain disgusting.
  • Find a suitable location for the diaper pail. Put it in the laundry room, the garage, or out on the patio. The living room, dining room, kitchen or bedroom is not the most ideal setting for a stinky diaper pail.
  • Coffee grounds are not just useful in your garden and potted planters. They can also useful for masking odor in the garbage as well as diaper pail odor.
  • Citrus is also a naturally good way to reduce the odor in your diaper pail. Use lemon, grapefruit, orange or any other citrus fruit to cut right into the offensive odor.
  • Baking soda should be an obvious choice. We use it to eliminate odor in our refrigerators, cabinets and sock drawers. Why not use it in the diaper pail?
  • A combination of #4 and #5- citrus AND baking soda. Scoop out the inside of a lemon, orange or citrus fruit of choice and fill the citrus skin with baking soda.
  • A spray bottle filled with water and vinegar can be a good remedy. You can use it to spray the pail itself whenever you empty it out or you can spray the can every time you dump a diaper in it.
  • A less natural solution is to use a disinfecting spray like Lysol to spray the diaper pail in between empties or each time you put a diaper in the pail.
  • Wash a load of diapers daily. This shouldn’t be difficult. Most of us are blessed with a washer and dryer in our homes and if you get into a regular routine with washing a load every morning or at night before bed, the smell won’t have a chance to build up.
  • Kitty litter is a great way to cut down the odor. Remember, kitty litter is designed to kill ammonia odor. It’s a perfect solution for cutting the stink down in a diaper pail.

  • Wash It With Disinfectant. Bleach and vinegar (not mixed together) are known to both kill odors and harmful bacteria. In between bag changes, take a moment to wash out your diaper pail with one or the other.
  • Change The Bag Frequently. If you’ve noticed that you’re only changing the bag once a week or so, this could be the reason behind the odor. The longer the diapers sit in the diaper pail, the more you’ll notice that your diaper genie smells.
  • Baking Soda Shaker: The Ultimate Diaper Pail Deodorizer. While diaper pail deodorizer ideas will work great, sometimes you need some extra help. If they aren’t making enough of a difference, then you need the power of a diaper pail deodorizer with every diaper.
  • Salt Absorbs Diaper Genie Smells. Salt is wonderful for taking care of the diaper genie smells. You can use this in multiple different ways. Most moms put it at the bottom of the diaper pail.
  • Arm And Hammer Carpet Deodorizer. Arm and Hammer carpet deodorizer is known to work wonders against any bad smell. It’s a step above baking soda. Most of the carpet deodorizer has the same power behind it as baking soda, but it also has a beautiful scent added to it.
  • The Munchkin Puck. These are little disks that are packed with baking soda. They are a bit more expensive than picking up some baking soda at the grocery store, but they make cleaning up a breeze.
  • Glade Plug-Ins. These are always my go-to odor eliminator. They worked wonders when both my children were younger. I still use them to make my house smell as fresh as possible now.
