SWEET AND SPICY FUSION BURGERS



Sweet and Spicy Fusion Burgers image

From Taste of Home Magazine These burgers combine some of my favorite flavors and textures, and you can do most of the work ahead of time. You'll find naan, an Indian flatbread, in the international or bread section of your grocery store.-Jamie Brown-Miller, Napa, California

Number Of Ingredients 16

2 cups shredded cabbage
2 teaspoons sesame seeds
2 teaspoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons sesame oil
2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 lb ground turkey
4 naan bread, warmed
1 (5 1/3 ounce) package fresh goat cheese
1/2 medium cucumber, thinly sliced
1/2 cup julienned sweet red pepper

Steps:

  • Place cabbage in a small bowl. In another small bowl, combine the sesame seeds, lemon juice, mustard and oil; pour over cabbage and toss to coat.
  • In a large bowl, combine the chili sauce, soy sauce, honey, vinegar, salt and pepper. Crumble turkey over mixture and mix well. Shape into four patties.
  • Moisten a paper towel with cooking oil; using long-handled tongs, lightly coat the grill rack. Grill burgers, covered, over medium heat or broil 4 inches from the heat for 5-7 minutes on each side or until a meat thermometer reads 165° and juices run clear.
  • Spread four flatbread halves with cheese. Top with burgers, cucumber, red pepper and cabbage mixture.

Number Of Ingredients 17

1 1/2 tablespoon wasabi powder
water
1 cup mayonaise
2 pounds regular ground beef
3/4 cups chopped water cestnuts
1/4 tespoon cayenne pepper
2 1/2 tablespoons sesame oil
2 1/2 tablespoons oyster sauce
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1/2 purchased bread crumbs
1 egg, slighly beaten
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons dried basil
10 stips cooked bacon
1/2 pound sliced co-jack cheese
3/4 cup sliced green onions.
Crusty buns.

Steps:

  • Prepare grill to med-med high Combine wasabi powder with enough water to form a paste. Mix wtih the mayonaise. Refrigerate til ready to use. Place next 10 ingrediants in large bowl and mix with hands til well combined. Shape into 5 equal size burgers. Grill over med heat till desired doneness is reached. Place cheese over burgers during last 2 minutes to melt. Place 2 stips bacon over each burger. Sprinkle with some green onions. Spread some of the wasabi mayonaise on top of each bun. Serve, passing additonal wasabi mayonaise for dipping.

Easy Asian Fusion Burgers image

These easy Asian fusion burgers are a fusion between Chinese and American flavors. I did not add ginger because of my family's taste but I think 1 teaspoon might be a good add-in. Make it keto by chopping up the burger and adding it to a low-carb tortilla.

½ cup mayonnaise
½ cup chopped fresh cilantro
¼ cup General Tso sauce
1 ½ teaspoons minced garlic
¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper
¼ teaspoon onion powder
⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
⅛ teaspoon salt
1 ½ pounds ground beef or chuck
½ teaspoon soy sauce, or to taste
ground black pepper to taste
4 hamburger buns, split
¼ cup chopped romaine lettuce, or to taste

Steps:

  • Heat a cast iron pan over medium-high heat.
  • Combine mayonnaise, cilantro, General Tso sauce, garlic, crushed red pepper, onion powder, 1/8 teaspoon black pepper, and salt in a small mixing bowl; stir well.
  • Form ground beef into 4 patties; place into the hot pan. Add 3 to 4 drops of soy sauce to each burger; season with additional black pepper to taste. Cook patties until browned and no longer pink in the centers, about 5 minutes per side. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of each patty should read at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
  • Prepare hamburger buns by adding a generous amount of mayonnaise mixture and romaine to each. Add cooked patties to buns and serve.
