FROSTED ORANGE CHIPPERS
This retro recipe is always in style! I got this in the 70's but it is still delicious and a bit different. A classic chocolate chip cookie with an orange twist.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
- In a large bowl, cream butter, cream cheese, and sugar. Gradually add eggs, vanilla, and orange zest. Mix well. Sift together flour and salt, stir into butter mixture. Stir in chocolate chips last.
- To make the orange frosting: stir together confectioners sugar, 4 tablespoons of butter, orange juice, 1/4 teaspoon of orange zest, salt, and food coloring in a small bowl. Mix until smooth.
- Drop cookie dough by teaspoons onto prepared cookie sheet. Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until light brown. While the cookies are still warm, frost with the orange frosting.

Steps:
- In a mixing bowl with an electric mixer, beat the butter with the vanilla extract until light and well blended.
- Sift the confectioners' sugar and gradually beat it into the butter along with the salt.
- Add a few tablespoons of orange juice and the orange zest. Beat until well blended and add more orange juice as needed for a spreadable frosting.

- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Beat together butter and sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, then beat in egg, zest, and vanilla.
- Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt and mix into butter mixture at low speed, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
- Fold in 1/2 cup chips and divide batter among lined muffin cups.
- Bake in middle of oven until pale golden and a tester comes out clean, 20 to 25 minutes. Turn cupcakes out onto a rack to cool completely.
- Bring cream to a simmer in a small heavy saucepan and add remaining 3/4 cup chips, whisking until smooth. Spread frosting on cupcakes.

- In a large bowl or stand mixer, mix/cream shortening, granulated sugar and 3 ounces cream cheese until well combined. Add eggs, orange juice, and orange zest to batter. Continue to beat ingredients until batter is fluffy, and fully combined.
- STIR flour, salt, and chocolate chips into the batter. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto lightly greased baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between cookies (approx. 24-26 cookies).
- Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes, or only until the cookies are barely golden brown around the bottom edges. You do NOT want cookies to brown like traditional chocolate chip cookies! When done, let cookies cool 2-3 minutes on baking sheets before transferring to a wire rack to finish cooling.
