Whether you're out of loaf'ed bread or just want to make a special variation on this classic breakfast: hot dog buns are the bomb (at least according to one cool kid).

4 hot dog buns
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar (by McCormick)
1/4 cup milk
maple syrup (by Login Cabin)
butter

Steps:

  • Pre-heat an oven to 150 - 175 degrees.
  • Heat a pan & coat it in butter.
  • Mix Eggs, Milk, Vanilla Extract in a square bowl (for dipping).
  • Cut the buns on their seam, so you have 8 pieces of bread.
  • Dip each bun half in the mix & then drip excess mix back in to bowl
  • Place each bun half about an inch apart on your pan.
  • Sprinkle Cinnamon Sugar on each side
  • Then place the finished pieces on a cookie sheet in the oven (this will keep'em warm and make them nice and crispy).

Number Of Ingredients 10

3 hot dog buns, split and halves separated for 6 pieces
Olive oil, for drizzling
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Two 5.2-ounce wheels herbed soft cheese, such as Boursin
5 blanched and peeled Roma tomatoes
Julienne of fresh basil
3 cups shredded mozzarella
1/2 of a random small salami, finely julienned and sauteed till kinda crispy
3/4 cup grated Parmesan
Pinch red pepper flakes

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Rub the hot dog bun halves with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Toast until golden in the oven.
  • Smear herbed cheese on each piece of bread. Slice tomatoes thin, and layer on 3 to 4 slices per bread. Sprinkle on basil, mozzarella, salami, Parmesan and red pepper flakes.
  • Bake until the cheese is melted and slightly golden, about 8 minutes.

1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional, to your liking)
2 hamburger or 2 hot dog buns, split
cooking spray
syrup

Steps:

  • In a shallow bowl, beat together all the ingredients except the buns with a fork until well blended. Dip both sides of buns in mixture (note: do not soak in mixture; just dip to cover lightly!).
  • Spray a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray; heat over medium heat. Place the buns in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, until browned. Serve warm with syrup.

1/3 cup chopped dried fruit

Steps:

  • In a shallow bowl, combine the first six ingredients; mix well. Dip both sides of each bun into egg mixture. Cook on a greased hot griddle until golden brown on both sides. Meanwhile, in a saucepan, combine the syrup and dried fruit; cook over medium heat until heated through. Serve with French Toasted buns.
