I came up with this idea when we had a dab of leftover French dip. So much fun and a nice twist to leftovers. These are also good with a little hot sauce on the side! -Kelly Williams, Forked River, New Jersey

1 boneless beef chuck roast (about 3 pounds)
1 envelope onion soup mix
1 envelope ranch salad dressing mix
2 cans (10-1/2 ounces each) condensed beef broth, undiluted
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
16 mini flour tortillas, warmed
Optional toppings: Shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, provolone cheese strips, sliced pepperoncini and sour cream

Steps:

  • Place roast in a 5- or 6-qt. slow cooker; sprinkle evenly with soup and dressing mixes. Add broth and Worcestershire sauce. Cook, covered, on low until meat is tender, 6-8 hours., Remove roast from slow cooker. Skim fat from cooking juices; keep warm. Shred beef with 2 forks; serve in tortillas with toppings as desired. Serve with juices for dipping.

This slow cooker french dip is perfect for a crowd.

3-4 pounds chuck roast (or rump roast)
salt and pepper to taste
10 ½ ounces beef broth (low sodium)
10 ½ ounces onion soup (low sodium)
1 onion (sliced)
12 ounces light beer
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 sprig rosemary (optional)
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
8 french rolls (or 2 baguettes cut into 6" rolls)
8 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • Season roast with salt & pepper. Brown in a large pan over medium high heat.
  • Place remaining ingredients (except rolls and butter) in a slow cooker. Cook on low 8 hours or on high 4 hours or until beef is tender.
  • Once roast is tender, remove from the juices and let rest 15 minutes. Shred or slice beef.
  • Butter rolls and heat under a broiler until lightly toasted. Top rolls with beef and serve with jus from the slow cooker for dipping.

INSTANT POT FRENCH DIP SANDWICHES

Juicy and tender beef, pressure cooked to perfection and piled high on a toasted bun with melty provolone cheese for the BEST Instant Pot French Dip Sandwiches recipe.

2 ½ - 3 pound chuck roast
3 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
3 cups beef broth
¼ cup low sodium soy sauce
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 white or yellow onion (sliced)
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon dried Italian herb seasoning blend (or Herbs de Provence)
24 slices of provolone cheese (see note)
12 brioche buns (see note)
4 tablespoons butter (melted)
3 teaspoons dijon mustard
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
prepared au jus sauce (see note)

Steps:

  • Set pressure cooker to SAUTE and drizzle with 1 tablespoon oil.
  • Rub 1 tablespoon of oil all over the beef, then season with salt and pepper.
  • Use tongs to arrange the beef in the pot. Sear for about 2 minutes, then turn and continue to sear on all sides until browned all over.
  • Add beef broth, soy sauce, worcestershire sauce, onions, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried herbs.
  • Place lid on the pot and slide into the locked position. Turn vent valve to SEALED position.
  • Set pot to MANUAL or PRESSURE COOK for 60 minutes. (see note if using a frozen roast)
  • Once cook time is up, do nothing while the pot naturally depressurizes for 15 minutes. Mean while preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Turn knob to VENTING position and remove lid once float valve drops.
  • Transfer meat to a large cutting board. Slice against the grain, or shred with two forks into chunks (don't shred it too finely, see note). Pour 1 cup of the juices from the pot over the beef to keep it really moist.
  • Line a baking sheet with the bottom half of the buns. Top each with a slice of cheese. Divide the meat between the buns. Top with another slice of cheese and the top of the bun.
  • In a small bowl stir together butter, dijon mustard, and garlic powder. Brush over the tops of the buns. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
  • Cover loosely with foil and bake for 10 minutes until cheese is completely melted. Remove foil and bake another 3-5 minutes until buns are lightly toasted. While sandwiches are baking, prepare au jus sauce. Serve with au jus sauce for dipping.

Sliced ripe olives, drained, optional
Tortilla chips

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, sour cream, onion dip and taco seasoning until blended. Spread onto a 12-in. round serving platter. Top with lettuce, cheese, tomatoes and if desired, olives. Serve with tortilla chips.

1 (10.5 ounce) can beef consomme
1 cup water
1 pound thinly sliced deli roast beef
8 slices provolone cheese
4 hoagie rolls, split lengthwise

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Open the hoagie rolls and lay out on a baking sheet.
  • Heat beef consomme and water in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat to make a rich beef broth. Place the roast beef in the broth and warm for 3 minutes. Arrange the meat on the hoagie rolls and top each roll with 2 slices of provolone.
  • Bake the sandwiches in the preheated oven for 5 minutes, or until the cheese just begins to melt. Serve the sandwiches with small bowls of the warm broth for dipping.

4 pound Rump or Chuck Beef Roast
1 can French onion soup
1 can beef broth
1 sprig rosemary
1 teaspoon garlic
6 french rolls
6 slices provolone cheese

Steps:

  • Put a Beef roast in a large stock pot or crock pot.
  • Dump in the beef broth, french onion soup, rosemary, and garlic.
  • Cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  • Remove beef roast from pot and let it sit for 10 minutes.
  • Slice or shred the beef
  • Split the french rolls and butter the inside of the rolls. Place rolls on a baking sheet.
  • Layer a generous amount of beef on each roll.
  • Put a slice of cheese on each sandwich.
  • Broil the sandwiches until bubbly. Be sure to watch them so they don't burn.
  • Serve with the leftover juice from the pot, also known as au jus.

  • Add butter to a medium-sized saucepan over medium-high heat. Once butter melts, add in onions, and cook till translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Add flour to cooked onions and cook for an additional 2 minutes while whisking to cook the flour taste out. Add in coriander and black pepper and whisk together with beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Reduce heat to low and let simmer while you prepare the sandwich.
  • Pile finely sliced or chopped pastrami onto bottom bun. Put on a baking sheet and place in a 400 degree oven for 5 minutes. Top pastrami with cheese and return to oven for an additional 5–7 minutes or until cheese has evenly melted. While cheese is melting, spread mustard on top portion of bun, and pour au jus into small bowl.
  • Remove sandwich from oven, top with pickles and top bun. Slice in half and serve with au jus and chips.
