SWEET AND SOUR CABBAGE
Here it is, my Mother's sweet and sour cabbage recipe! Whenever served guests will ask for the recipe. Quite simple to make, and can easily be doubled for a dish to pass, etc...

Steps:
- add shredded cabbage to boiling water, cover and boil about 15 minutes until crisp tender, drain.
- fry bacon until crisp, crumble and reserve 1 tbsp drippings.
- stir in brown sugar, water, salt pepper and onion.
- cook until thick, add to cabbage and stir in bacon.
OLDE COUNTRY CABBAGE & FRANKS
My Bavarian mother-in-law convinced me that vegetables can taste awesome! Her "blaukraut" (blue cabbage) was the inspiration for this meal-in-one recipe.

Steps:
- 1. Shred cabbage (food processor is easiest) Peel & cube sweet potatoes.
- 2. Cook the sweet potatoes in a covered skillet on low heat until softened. (Add oil, butter or water as needed.)
- 3. Add sausages along with the onions to the skillet. Cook until onions are very soft. Add salt & pepper to taste.
- 4. Drain and squeeze the sauerkraut until it is dry. Fold it carefully into the skillet.
- 5. Meanwhile: Cook the shredded cabbage in a large pot with a very small bit of water until softened. Add the applesauce and stir gently until combined.
- 6. Fold everything together and serve, preferably with some German Duseldorf mustard

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Saute onions in butter until tender. Stir in the baked beans and sliced frankfurters. Season with brown sugar, mustard and celery salt. Transfer to a 2 quart casserole dish.
- Bake for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.

- Place cabbage in a saucepan; add 1 in. of water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 6-8 minutes or until crisp-tender. , Meanwhile, place 1 in. of water in a skillet. Bring to a boil; add the hot dogs. Remove from the heat; cover and let stand for 7 minutes. , For mustard sauce, melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir in flour and salt until smooth. Gradually add milk and mustard. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Drain cabbage and hot dogs; serve with mustard sauce.

- Place half of the shredded cabbage in 5- to 6-quart slow cooker. Crumble ground beef over top. Sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoons salt and 1/8 teaspoons pepper. Evenly distribute chopped onion, then rice over all. Top with remaining cabbage, salt and pepper. Combine spaghetti sauce, water, basil and seasoned salt; pour over cabbage.
