I make these often for bake sales and around the holidays. They are so adaptable for any special event and great for all ages.

Provided by Karen..

Categories     Candy

Time 33m

Yield 30 chocolate pretzels

Number Of Ingredients 7

10 ounces pretzel sticks (Pretzel RODS)
12 ounces milk chocolate chips (or melting disks)
1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional)
candy sprinkles (optional)
miniature M&M's chocolate candies (optional)
mini Reese's pieces (optional)
chopped peanuts (optional)

Steps:

  • Melt milk chocolate chips in double boiler or in microwave (be careful not to burn in the micro).
  • If you are using the white chocolate, wait until later before melting unless you can keep it over warm water.
  • Dip each pretzel rod about 2/3 of the way up in chocolate.
  • Lay on wax paper lined baking sheets, lining up the rods but leave a bit of space between them.
  • Allow to set a little, but not completely dry (while waiting, make sure your white chocolate is ready).
  • Dip a fork into the white chocolate and drizzle over the milk chocolate by gently swishing the fork back and forth over the rods but not touching them.
  • Place your sprinkles or candies on a paper plate and roll each pretzel rod in desired topping (or just sprinkle on).
  • Lay back on wax paper to set completely.
  • These look great displayed in, or given in, a unique glass or mug.

CHOCOLATE COVERED PRETZEL RODS RECIPE

Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods Recipe image

Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods - Super easy and fun treat to make and gift during the holidays. Beautiful, edible, salty-sweet treats everyone loves!

Provided by DSTR

Categories     Candy     Dessert

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 4

16 oz pretzel rods
12 ounces chocolate chips (semisweet, dark or white chocolate or candy melts)
1-2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
Sprinkles

Steps:

  • Line two large baking sheets with wax or parchment paper.
  • Set up your workstation with all the sprinkles you are going to use. Place about 1/2 cup of colored melting candy (for the drizzle) in heavy-duty zip-top bags.
  • Microwave 2 cups of chocolate chips and vegetable shortening in a tall glass for 45 seconds. Stir. The morsels may retain some of their original shapes. If necessary, microwave for additional 10- to 15-second intervals, stirring just until morsels are melted.
  • Dip the pretzel rods into melted chocolate, tilting the glass to easily cover as much of the pretzel as you want. Use the side and rim of the glass to remove excess. Place on prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with sprinkles.
  • Or microwave the candy melts in the zip-top bags for about 20-25 seconds, squish the candy around until melted and smooth. Cut a tiny cut corner from each of the bags and drizzle.
  • Let set up. Store in an air-tight container.

CHOCOLATE COVERED PRETZEL RODS

Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods image

Everyone goes crazy for these Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods dipped in melted caramel and chocolate and sprinkled with your favorite toppings.

Provided by Lauren Allen

Categories     Dessert

Time 1h20m

Number Of Ingredients 3

40 Pretzel Rods
16 ounces chocolate*
1/2 batch homemade caramel* (, or 1 bag store-bought caramels)

Steps:

  • Prepare two large baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  • Prepare homemade caramel (or melt store-bought caramels). Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Allow homemade caramel to cool for about 15 minutes before dipping.
  • Dip Pretzel Rods in caramel. I use a spoon to scoop the sauce onto the pretzels and turn them as I go. Allow excess sauce to drip off and place the dipped pretzels on a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • After the caramel sets and cools some of it may pool at the base of the pretzel, causing the bottom to be flat. Use your hands to mold the caramel back around the rod (or just roll the rod gently on the parchment paper to smooth it around).
  • Melt chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, on half power, stirring every 30 seconds, until smooth.
  • Pour the chocolate into a tall glass. Dip the caramel-coated pretzels in melted chocolate. You can use a spoon or spatula to help smooth the chocolate up and around if you need to.
  • Lay the dipped pretzels on a parchment lined sheet. While the chocolate is warm, you can sprinkle on a few light weight toppings or sprinkles, if desired.
  • Allow the chocolate to set up before eating or removing from parchment.

CHOCOLATE COVERED PRETZEL RODS RECIPE

Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods Recipe image

Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods - one of our family's favorite treats during the holidays. Pretzels dipped in a homemade caramel sauce, then in melted chocolate, drizzled with white chocolate and your choice of sprinkles.

Provided by Lil' Luna

Categories     Dessert

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 bag pretzel rods
candy quick (chocolate and white)
desired toppings and sprinkles
2 cups brown sugar
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup light corn syrup
1 stick butter
1 tsp vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Make caramel sauce by melting your butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add brown sugar, milk and corn syrup. Boil over medium-high heat for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring constantly. Around 240℉ (mixture will get a thicker, a little shiny and a tad darker). Remove from heat, add vanilla and stir.
  • Dip each pretzel in caramel and set on wax paper. You can choose to repeat this step for extra gooey pretzels.
  • While caramel is setting, melt entire tray of chocolate candy quick according to package directions.
  • When caramel is just a tad sticky to the touch, carefully lift rod and dip in chocolate. Place on a clean sheet of wax paper to harden.
  • Be sure to sprinkle your preferred toppings immediately, before chocolate has set so that it sticks to the pretzels.
  • For a beautiful white drizzle, wait for chocolate to harden, then melt a few squares of the white candy quick and drizzle over the top.

  • Take the peanut butter pretzels from the fridge and, one at a time, dip pretzels into the melted chocolate. Allow excess chocolate to drip off the end, and place the coated pretzel rod on the parchment paper. Continue dipping pretzels, once done, place the tray of chocolate peanut butter dipped pretzels in the fridge until the chocolate hardens a little, about 5-10 minutes or so.
  • Sprinkle the sugar sprinkles on the chocolate at this time if desired, or roll the pretzel rod around in the sugar sprinkles, both ways work, and it might be easier for little hands to roll them rather than sprinkle.
