FAUX FEBREEZE

Faux Febreeze image

A wonderful dirt cheap alternative to buying a $5 bottle of Febreze. This version is about 5 cents to make and the scent is much nicer too. I use it all the time.

Categories     Household Cleaner

Time 1m

Yield 1 bottle

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 1/2-4 tablespoons ultra downy clean breeze fabric softener
25 ounces water
32 ounces spray bottle, new and clean (please don't re-use a cleaning product bottle unless it is an old Febreeze bottle)

Steps:

  • Put Downy and water in bottle and spray on furniture, carpeting, pillows, shower curtains -- etc -- To do a fabric test, spray small amount in an area where it cannot be seen.
  • I never sprayed this on anything white, but I spray it all over my house, once a week.

HOMEMADE FEBREZE

HOMEMADE FEBREZE image

I saw this on FB and decided to give it a whirl since I detest the smell of Febreze. This really smells good and works like a charm and I wanted to share it with you.

Provided by Bea L. @BeachChic

Categories     Other Non-Edibles

Number Of Ingredients 4

1/8 cup(s) downy fabric softener*
2 tablespoon(s) baking soda
- hot tap water
27 ounce(s) spray bottle

Steps:

  • Using a funnel, pour Downy* in a 27 oz spray bottle. I use an old Febreze bottle.
  • Add in the baking soda and fill with hot tap water. Screw sprayer top on tightly and shake til mixed.
  • NOTE: *You can use your favorite liquid fabric softener rather than Downy.

  • Homemade Febreze with Downy Unstopables and Rubbing Alcohol. While this does mean you’ll need to take a quick trip to the store, it also means you have some options for the fragrance.
  • Homemade Febreze with Fabric Softener. Here we find another option that helps stretch those grocery budgets, while still giving you that “Febreze feel.”
  • Homemade Febreze with Baking Soda. Now we come to one of the mainstays of odor control (and cleaning in general), historically speaking. It has been an odor-regulating agent for a long time.
  • Homemade Febreze with Vinegar. Next, we have baking soda’s “other half” – the vinegar. These two can do more than just create some wicked science experiments (balloon on top of a soda bottle, anyone?).
  • Homemade Febreze with Essential Oils. Now we get to one of the recipes that is all the rage. It’s no secret that essential oils have taken the crunchy, environmentally-conscious world by storm.
