EASY RUSSIAN SALAD DRESSING



Easy Russian Salad Dressing image

This is a tried and true recipe used on the green salad served by our church for their annual "Spaghetti Feed".

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup catsup
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 dash dry basil
1 dash celery seed

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients in a covered container. Shake well.
  • Let flavors meld and store in refrigerator at least 1 hour ahead of when you need it.
  • Mix with green salad ingredients.
  • (Also good on fruit salad).

½ cup mayonnaise
⅓ cup ketchup
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, ketchup, vinegar, onion, salt and pepper until thoroughly combined. Refrigerate until ready to use.

I got this recipe from my best cooking show.Its easy and fast .Ill never change this russian salad by another recipe.

6 small potatoes
5 carrots
1 ounce peas
mayonnaise
water

Steps:

  • Boil the vegies in water until well cooked .
  • Dice the carrots and potatoes and pop them with the peas in a bowl.
  • Add about 3 large spoons of mayonnaise and give that a little mix.
  • Let it cool down in the refrigerator for a while.
  • At last enjoy.

This is a recipe my mom and grandmother use every time there's a family gathering or a special occasion. To make this a vegetarian dish just leave out the ham. Potatoes, carrots, and eggs do not have to be chilled completely after boiling. Dill can be substituted for parsley if desired.

6 potatoes, peeled
1 carrot, or more to taste
4 eggs
6 large pickles, cut into cubes
1 (15 ounce) can peas, drained
½ cup cubed fully cooked ham, or to taste
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, or to taste
½ cup mayonnaise, or to taste

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil; add potatoes and carrot. Return mixture to a boil and add eggs; cook until potatoes are tender, 20 to 30 minutes. Drain and slightly cool mixture. Chop potatoes and carrot; peel and chop eggs.
  • Mix potatoes, carrot, eggs, pickles, peas, ham, and parsley together in a large bowl; stir in mayonnaise until salad is evenly coated.

This easy Russian salad is the perfect accompaniment to leftover meat, or great on its own also

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 carrots , peeled and cut into small chunks
3 waxy potatoes , cut into small chunks
mugful frozen peas
6 small cornichons or gherkins , sliced
2 rounded tbsp light mayonnaise
a little chopped parsley

Steps:

  • Cook the carrots and potatoes in a pan of boiling salted water for 4 mins, then throw in the peas and cook for 4 mins more until all the vegetables are tender. Drain, cool for a few mins, then tip into a bowl with the cornichons, mayonnaise and parsley, if using. Mix well and season to taste. Delicious with leftover roast beef or lamb, wedges of pork pie or cold sliced ham or chicken.
