EASY CRUNCHY GARLIC CROUTONS RECIPE
Croutons are a great garnish for green salads and (as with any croutons), toss them in at the very last minute to prevent them from getting soggy. You want your bread to be at least a day old. It'll be easier to cut and holds it's shape better. We used my mom's ultra soft wheat bread (Visit NatashasKitchen.com for the video and photo tutorial). You could also use a basic french bread with great results.

Steps:
- In a small sauce pan, combine: 2 Tbsp butter, 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil, 2 pressed garlic cloves, 1 Tbsp chopped parsley, 1/4 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper. Heat over medium heat until butter is melted. Stir to combine then set aside and let the flavors infuse into the oil while you chop your bread.
- Cut your bread into 3/4" cubes. For goodness sake, don't remove the crust! It adds variety and great crunch to these croutons. Transfer to large mixing bowl.
- Drizzle the seasoned olive oil over your chopped bread and toss until bread crumbs have an even coating of oil.
- Spread the bread in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake at 375˚F for
- -20 minutes until they are golden brown and crunchy. (mine took 20 min)
- Serve these up with your favorite green salad.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 375F and move the rack to the middle position. Line a baking sheet with tin foil for easy clean-up.
- Cut your bread into croutons and add them to the baking sheet. Pour the olive oil over the bread, and then sprinkle the garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and salt & pepper as evenly as you can over the bread. Use your hands to toss until everything is as well combined as you can get it.
- Spread the croutons out in an even layer that's clustered fairly close together (but not stacked), and then sprinkle the parmesan cheese over top. This ensures that as much cheese as possible will be stuck to the croutons.
- Bake the croutons for 10-15 minutes. I find that 15 minutes works well for fresh bread.
- Let the croutons cool for a few minutes, then add them to your salad/soup or store in an airtight container. Don't discard the bits that fell off the croutons while baking - I like to add those to salads too because they have tons of flavor.

Remove from oven and season with salt and more parmesan if desired. Allow the croutons to cool slightly on the pan. Use immediately, or allow transfer to a plate and allow to cool completely before storing in a zip-closure bag.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Cube the bread evenly to the desired size. Even size cubes allow it to cook evenly.
- In a large bowl, evenly drizzle or spray the olive oil over the bread cubes. Then evenly sprinkle the No Salt Garlic Herb seasoning and pepper over the bread. Toss gently until well-combined.
- In a single layer spread the bread cubes out on a large baking sheet.
- Bake until golden about 15 minutes, turning once halfway through cooking in order to brown all sides of the croutons. Your cooking time will depend on the thickness of the cubes and oven heat. Be sure to watch that they do not burn.
- Remove from oven, and let cool completely. Use immediately, or store in an air-tight container for up to 1 week. I store in Ziploc bag in fridge up to two weeks no problem.

- Add the kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, rosemary, oregano or basil, onion powder, and smoked paprika to a medium sized mixing bowl.
- Alternatively, you may sift the spices together with a mesh strainer or flour sifter or another method is to add all of the ingredients to a food processor and process until well mixed.
- After combining, transfer the mixture into a clean, dry container that has a lid (such as a glass jar).

- First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or 177 degrees Celsius) if you’re using the oven method. Line a baking tray--I like to use silicone baking mats. They are more cost effective and they are reusable!
- Now slice up your bread into squares. I find it easier to use a serrated knife for this task so I don’t squish the bread. You can also just tear it into pieces. Leave the crusts on or remove them according to your preference.
- We don’t want to be fumbling for the spices after we’ve wet the bread. Using your spray bottle, finely mist the bread a few times on one side, and quickly sprinkle the spices and herbs on top. It’s ok if some gets on your baking tray. If you wish, flip the bread and repeat the process, but I find there’s enough flavor just doing one side, plus I’m really lazy, to be honest.
- Bake the croutons at 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or 177 degrees Celsius) for approximately 10 minutes. Check on them halfway through, as everyone’s ovens differ. You may choose how brown you want your croutons. Barely browned will be a little softer, while more browned may be crunchier.
