GREAT-GRANDMA CATHY'S DATE LOAF CANDY
Handed down from my great-grandmother, and one of my father's all-time favorite holiday treats. Store in the refrigerator (rolled in the cloth), and it will keep for weeks. Otherwise, it becomes hard and sugary.

DATE NUT ROLL
Another recipe that my wonderful mom made every year for the holidays. I remember a long object rolled up in a kitchen towel, hanging from the clothes line, and this year I found out it was the date nut roll, hung out to dry. I guess it's part of the process. So this year mom came for Thanksgiving and I documented the recipe, of course adjusting for those without a closeline.

- First of all, chop the dates into small pieces, about the size of the marshmallows, and put them in a bowl. Sprinkle the dates with the hot water. Stir and let set for a few minutes.
- Put the mini marshmallows in a separate bowl and sprinkle them with the cream. Stir and let set for a few minutes.
- Take the remaining 1 1/2 cups of crumbs and mix them with the marshmallows and dates. It is best to use your hands (it does get a bit messy, kind of like meatloaf). Make sure that all the ingredients are combined well.
