1/2 pound sliced baby portobello mushrooms
1 small onion, halved and sliced
1 beef top sirloin steak (1 pound), cubed
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons olive oil
1/3 cup dry red wine or beef broth
2 cups beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup cold water
Hot cooked mashed potatoes

Steps:

  • Place mushrooms and onion in a 3-qt. slow cooker. Sprinkle beef with salt and pepper. In a large skillet, heat 1 teaspoon oil over medium-high heat; brown meat in batches, adding more oil as needed. Transfer meat to slow cooker., Add wine to skillet, stirring to loosen browned bits from pan. Stir in broth and Worcestershire sauce; pour over meat. Cook, covered, on low 6-8 hours or until meat is tender., In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and cold water until smooth; gradually stir into slow cooker. Cook, covered, on high until gravy is thickened, 15-30 minutes. Serve with mashed potatoes.

  • Put your meat in the bottom of your 4-quart slow cooker (I used Mr. Big)
  • Pour your soups, pepper and gravy mix into a bowl, mix together and pour over your meat

3 pounds stew meat
salt and pepper
3 cups beef broth
1 package dry onion soup mix
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 small onion (diced)
2 cups mushrooms (sliced )
3 garlic cloves (minced)
1/4 cup water
3 Tbsp cornstarch

Steps:

  • In a large skillet over medium high heat add the olive oil. Salt and pepper the stew meat and add in batches to sear on both sides until brown, but do not cook throughtout. Add the stew meat to the slow cooker.
  • Add the beef broth, dry onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, onions, mushroom, and garlic. Cook on low for 5-6 hours or high 3-4 hours.
  • 30 minutes before it is done cooking, mix together in a small bowl the water and cornstarch. Stir it into the slow cooker and allow it to thicken.
  • Serve over pasta or mashed potatoes.

It's hard for me to find a dish that my kids will eat, but with this one, I didn't get a peep out of them at the dinner table, they were too busy eating to talk!!

2 can(s) (26 oz.) cream of mushroom soup
1 can(s) campbells french onion soup
4 Tbsp butter or margarine
garlic powder
onion powder
ground black pepper
1 lb beef stew meat
1 pkg egg noodles

Steps:

  • 1. Cut up stew meat into bite size peices, then put in large skillet with the butter or margarine, season with garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper to taste.
  • 2. Fry the stew meat until cooked through (do not drain).
  • 3. While the meat is cooking get your crockpot ready, add the 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup and french onion soup and mix until well blended together.
  • 4. After the meat is done cooking add directly to the crockpot with the soups, and mix.
  • 5. Leave on Low for 4 hours.
  • 6. Prepare egg noodles as directed on package. Then enjoy!!

1/4 Cup All-Purpose Flour
1/4 Teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper
2 Pounds Beef Stew Meat (You Can Also Cut Up A Chuck Roast Into Bite Sized Pieces)
1/4 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
3 Tablespoons Olive Oil (Divided)
1 Medium Yellow Onion (Peeled And Diced)
2 Cups Low Sodium Beef Broth (Store Bought Or Homemade)
1 Cup Red Wine
0.87 Ounce Brown Gravy Mix (1 Packet - I Used McCormick Brand Low Sodium)

Steps:

  • In a shallow dish place the flour, pepper and garlic powder and stir with a fork to combine.
  • Toss the beef tips in the flour mixture to coat on all sides and set aside.
  • On the stove-top, heat a large skillet until very hot and then add 2 tablespoons olive oil.
  • Add the floured beef to the pan and sear the meat and brown it on one side for about 4 to 6 minutes. Then flip the meat over as best as you can (I just use a spatula and give it a turn) and allow it to brown on that side for another 4 to 6 minutes.
  • Remove beef from frying pan and transfer to a 5 to 6 quart slow cooker.
  • In the same pan add an additional 1 tablespoon of olive oil and the chopped onions, and cook them until they are translucent and slightly browned (10 to 15 minutes).
  • Add cooked onions to the crock-pot.
  • Deglaze the pan in which you cooked the beef and onions with some of the beef broth, making sure to scrap up the browned bits and pour off the liquid into the crock-pot with your beef and onions.
  • Add the rest of the beef broth, red wine and brown gravy mix and stir everything to combine.
  • If you wish to add sliced mushrooms now would be the time to add 8 oz. sliced white or baby portobello mushrooms to your slow cooker.
  • Cover your slow cooker and cook on LOW temperature for 6 to 8 hours.
  • Give everything in the crock a final stir and serve over cooked white or brown rice or cooked egg noodles for a lovey dinner and enjoy!

  • Season the beef pieces on all sides with salt and pepper. Heat the oil over medium heat in a skillet until hot and rippling. Add some of the beef in a single layer, not touching, and cook for 30 seconds or so until golden, flip and brown on the other side. Transfer beef to the insert of 6-quart slow cooker.
