Steps:
- In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar and 2 tablespoons cocoa. Stir in milk and oil until smooth. Pour into a greased 8-in. square baking pan. Combine the brown sugar and remaining cocoa; sprinkle over batter. Pour hot water over top (do not stir). Bake at 350° until top of cake springs back when lightly touched, 40-45 minutes. Serve warm, with ice cream if desired.

Steps:
- 1. Grease an 8 x 8 inch baking pan. Pour butter in bottom of the baking pan. Mix in medium bowl flour, baking powder, salt, 3/4 cup of sugar and 3 tablespoons cocoa. Add milk and vanilla. Stir to combine and spoon into the baking pan on top of the butter. Do not mix in.
- 2. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa. Sprinkle evenly over the batter in the pan. Don't mix in.
- 3. Slowly pour boiling water over. Do not mix in.
- 4. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until the center is set.

- Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter an 8x8-inch baking pan and set aside.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, ⅔ cup sugar, ¼ cup cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until combined. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, butter, and vanilla until smooth. Add the wet mixture to the dry mixture and stir to combine into a thick batter. Pour into the prepared baking dish.
- In a small bowl, stir together the remaining sugar and cocoa powder. Sprinkle evenly over the batter, then sprinkle on the chocolate chips. Slowly pour the boiling water over the top of the mixture without stirring.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, until the center is just set. Serve slightly warm with ice cream, if desired.

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Melt butter in an 8x8 inch baking dish while the oven preheats.
- In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, 3/4 cup sugar, and 1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa. Stir in milk and vanilla until smooth. Spoon this batter over the melted butter in the baking dish.

- 1. Preheat oven to 350. In a 9x13 glass baking dish, melt the two sticks of butter in the oven for 5 minutes.
- 2. Meanwhile in a bowl, mix together the 1 1/4 cups of sugar, flour, vanilla, and milk.
- 3. Once the butter is melted, pour the batter over the butter, but do not stir.
- 4. In a separate bowl, mix together the cocoa and remaining sugar.
- 5. Sprinkle cocoa/sugar mixture on top of batter. Do not stir.
- 6. Pour the 2 cups of boiling water on top of that (don't stir).
- 7. Bake for 40-45 minutes. I bake mine until I have a nice golden brown crust.
- 8. Serve warm. Great with ice cream.
