Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Put the butter into a lightly greased nine-inch square baking pan. Put the butter in the oven in this pan to melt it.
- After just a few minutes, the butter should be melted. Remove the pan from the oven and place it on a heatproof surface.
- Wash your apples and slice them into wedges after removing the cores. You can peel the apples or leave the peels on. Whatever you and your family like better is perfectly fine.
- Put the apples in the baking pan on top of the butter, stirring them to coat them in butter. Sprinkle them with flour, cinnamon, and salt. Drizzle the honey over the apples, along with the water and the vanilla extract. Use a wooden spoon to stir the apples until they are evenly coated with all the other ingredients.
- Bake the apples in the preheated oven for about twenty to twenty-five minutes. You want them to be fork-tender, but not overly mushy.
- Serve warm in bowls. You can serve these as a side item or, top them with whipped cream or ice cream to be a delicious dessert. Refrigerate leftovers in a tightly covered container for up to five days.

Steps:
- Preheat: Preheat the oven to 350℉ degrees.
- Prepare Apples: Peel the apples, cut and remove the core and cut into slices about 1/3-1/2 an inch thick.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the apples to a large bowl or you can mix right in a pie dish, or 2 quart baking dish. Add the light brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt, lemon juice and vanilla extract. Stir to combine. If using a bowl, spoon the apples into a pie dish or 2 quart baking dish.
- Butter: Cut the butter into small squares, and place them over the top of the apples.
- Baking: Bake for 30 minutes, stirring after the apples have baked for 15 minutes. This prevents apples on the top from drying. Bake until the apples are tender and soft.
- Serve: Remove and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Serve warm.

Steps:
- Sift together flour, baking powder and salt in large bowl. Add lard and cut in with pastry cutter or fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. In a measuring cup, mix water, egg yolks and lemon juice together and pour over flour mixture. Blend gently with a fork until combined; mixture will be very moist.
- Divide dough in half. Roll or pat one half of dough directly into 9" by 13" jelly roll pan, bringing dough slightly up the edges. I patted with my hands, you could also try a mini roller. Spread apple filling evenly over the dough. Roll remaining dough to fit the top, either on a well floured pastry board or the back of a sheet pan and then carefully flip it over the top. Press or pinch the edges together, don't worry if it doesn't seal completely, as long as top is completely covering apples. Patch where necessary. Cut several slits in top dough for steam vents.
- Bake in 400º oven for 40 minutes, until crust is nicely browned, rotating pan halfway. Remove to rack to cool.
- Make glaze. Combine sugar, softened butter, vanilla and milk until smooth, adding more milk if necessary for consistency. Spread glaze over top of crust with an offset spatula and let glaze set and harden. Cut into 2- or 3-inch squares and enjoy!
