Steps:
- In a large pot, place the can of sweetened condensed milk with the label taken off, in the pot and cover with water. Cook on high until water comes to a boil, then turn on medium/high for 4 hours, only adding water to keep the can covered.
- Carefully open can and pour into pie shell. Cool pie in refrigerator. When completely cooled, top with frozen whipped topping. Serve.

- Cook pie shell according to instructions. Remove label from can. Place unopened can of Eagle Brand milk in saucepan; completely cover the can with water. Boil 3 hours, replacing water when needed. Keep can COMPLETELY submerged in boiling water at all times. After 3 hours boiling, cool can completely (approximately 4 hours). Sprinkle 1/4 cup chopped walnuts on the crust. Slice bananas and place in a layer on the top of the crust. Carefully open cooled can of sweetened condensed milk and pour into precooked pie shell. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Top with Cool Whip and 1/4 cup chopped walnuts.

- Remove the label from the can of condensed milk. Do not open the can yet. Take the can and stick it in a pot. Cover it with water. Put the pot on a stove and turn up the heat. Let the pot and can simmer gently for about one and a half to two hours for runny caramel (dulce de leche), or up to four hours for solid dulce de leche. Add more water, as necessary, when the level boils down too much. Do not let the water level fall below the top of the can. When it's done, let it cool for a while, and then carefully open up the can and eat directly (for the solid variety) or use as a dessert spread (for the liquid variety). The resulting product should be colored tan or brown. It can then be spread into a prepared pie shell and covered in whip cream for an excellent pie, or I use it sometimes as a filling between layers of chocolate cakes. cook's notes You need to keep a close eye on the can. If it shows any signs of expansion, immediately remove it from the heat and let it cool. If you are concerned at all at the high-pressure nature of the recipe, you may poke a small hole in the top of the can, and lower the water level so that the can is not completely covered. This will allow the internal pressure of the can to be released, but it will also make the recipe take longer (since high pressure reduces cooking time).

- Do not open sweetened condensed milk cans, but remove the paper on the outside of the cans.
- Put water into crock pot, then put UNOPENED sweetened condensed milk cans into water. Turn on low, and allow to simmer overnight, or for 8 hours.
- Remove cans from water. Allow to cool, then open cans. Empty contents (should be a rich, caramel color) into a bowl and with a whisk whip until smooth and fluffy. Pour into pie shell, and top with cool whip.
- Chill before serving.

CARAMEL BANANA PIE
A family favorite. This is not your ordinary caramel. This is Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk boiled into caramel. An old trick trick used by our mothers, mother. Sure to make everyone say, "MORE PLEASE", as one slice is never enough. You can even make mini pastries using a cupcake pan.

- 1. Peel the label from your Eagle Brand milk. In a large sauce or stew pot bring water to boil and place Eagle Brand Milk in water. Allow to boil for 3-4 hours. I usually allow 3 1/2 to make sure its complete. Add water every 30 minutes to keep covered. I also like to turn my can at that time, to make sure it has even heat. Once complete, set out to become room temp. I've also used while still warm.
- 2. While your Eagle Brand Milk is cooling, bake your pie shell. Peel and slice your bananas.
- 3. Open your Eagle Brand Milk to find the most amazing caramel to ever touch your tongue. Place a layer of sliced bananas as the bottom layer, then a layer of caramel. Top with more bananas and then add your cool whip. You can do as many layers as you want. Refrigerate and serve.

- I opened one of my community cookbooks ("Recipes: Old and New, Tried and True 4th Edition"...North Lamar Young Homemakers of Texas, Area V Powderly, Texas) and found the instructions to the Eagle Brand caramel pie... Take the can of milk and remove label. Place UNOPENED can in saucepan and cover with water. Place lid on saucepan; boil over low heat for 3 hours. Remove can and LET COOL COMPLETELY BEFORE OPENING. (Note: Milk can be boiled the day before and placed in the refrigerator overnight to save time. You will need to place the milk into a bowl and stir to spreading consistency.) Place layer of bananas in bottom of crust; spread with a layer of caramelized milk and then a layer of whipped cream, Dream Whip or Cool Whip. Repeat with a second layer of each. - Pour condensed milk in a 1 quart electric slow cooker.
- Cover and cook 6 to 7 hours or until mixture is the color of peanut butter, stirring mixture with a wire whisk every 30 minutes.
