Steps:
- Cook all Apple Pie Filling ingredients over medium heat until thickened. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Break the Crumble Topping for Ice Cream into bite-sized pieces.
- Make the Classic Vanilla Ice Cream. When ice cream has reached soft-serve consistency, transfer it to an airtight container, layering it with the caramel, apple pie filling, and crumble topping. (Note: You will mostly likely only use about half of the can of caramel and half of the crumble topping). Freeze for several hours or overnight.

- Combine all of the ingredients for the apple mixture in a bowl.
- In another bowl, cut the butter into the flour and stir in the remaining topping ingredients.
- Spray the interior of a camp Dutch oven with cooking spray or wipe with vegetable oil. Spread the apple mixture in the bottom of the camp Dutch oven. Top with the topping mixture. Bake at 350 degrees F by placing 8 coals under the camp Dutch oven and 16 coals on top of the lid. Continue cooking until the apples are cooked and the topping is brown. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
DUTCH APPLE CRISP CARMEL ICE CREAM DESSERT
A coworker brought a Oreo cookie ice cream dessert which was very good. A friend of mine wanted Apple Crisp for his birthday and I got to thinking Apple Crisp would goes good with ice cream...hmmmm...what if I put them together in one dessert. So I took the Oreo recipe and came up with this. My friend LOVED it!!

- 1. Crush 'nilla wafers in a food processer until they're fine crumbs and pour into small bowl. Stir in cinnamon. Add melted butter and stir with a fork until crumbs are all moist.
- 2. Press into the bottom of an ungreased 9 X 13" pan. Place in a preheated 350 degree oven for 15-20 minutes until set. Cool completely.
- 3. Peel and core apples. Cut apple into about 1/2 inch slices.
- 4. Place in large pot. Add water, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. Bring to a boile and simmer uncovered on medium heat stirring occasionly until apples are soft, about 20 minutes. Cool completely.
- 5. Pull ice cream out of the freezer for softening while making the topping. Add all dry topping ingredients to a medium size bowl and stir well.
- 6. Add melted butter and vanilla and almond extract and stir with a fork until crumbly.
- 7. Spread topping mixture evenly on a cookie sheet. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes or until dry but not too crispy. Cool completely.
- 8. Spread softened ice cream evenly on crust.
- 9. Generously drizzle carmel sauce on ice cream.
- 10. Spread apple mixture next.
- 11. Crumble topping mixture evenly on top of the apple mixture. Drizzle with more caramel sauce. Freeze for 6 hours or overnight.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a 1 1/2 quart baking dish, melt butter in oven.
- Sprinkle with crumbs, combine with butter, and press onto bottom of dish to make crust.
- In bowl, mix together condensed milk, sour cream, and Realemon.
- Spread evenly over crumb crust.
- Spoon apple filling over creamy layer.
- Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes or until set.
- Cool slightly.
- Mix together nuts and cinnamon.
- Sprinkle over top.
- Serve warm or cold.
- Refrigerate any leftovers.

- Pie Crust: Stir flour and salt together in a large bowl. Cut in the shortening with a pastry blender or fork until small crumbs form. *Whisk egg and add half of it to the dough. Add the vinegar and water. Stir until dough starts to come together, adding more ice cold water by the Tablespoon if needed. Empty dough onto clean surface and use hands to shape dough into a flat disc. Wrap in plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator.
- Apple Filling: Combine sliced apples, lemon juice, both sugars, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in a large bowl. Stir well. Let macerate (release juices) at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- Streusel Topping: Combine all streusel ingredients in a bowl. Cut butter with a pastry blender or fork until crumbly. May use hands to incorporate butter better. Refrigerate until ready to use.
- Remove pie crust from refrigerator. Sprinkle work surface with flour and roll pie crust from the center outwards, rotating pie crust and adding more flour as needed to keep from sticking to the counter. Roll dough into a large circle about 1/4-inch thin. Gently fold in half. Lift crust and place it in a DEEP 9-inch pie dish. Unfold crust and use hands to fit the crust to the shape of the pan. Cut off or tuck excess crust underneath and crimp the edges.
