Ingredients

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, plus more for rimming glasses, plus 4 skinny lemon peels
1/2 cup pink sanding sugar
8 ounces good cognac
2 tablespoons superfine sugar
4 ounces orange liqueur, such as Grand Marnier

Steps:

Five minutes prior to serving, fill 4 champagne coupe glasses with ice. When ready to serve, dump the ice and rub the rims of each coupe with lemon juice. Rim half of each glass in the pink sugar. In a cocktail shaker add the cognac, superfine sugar, orange liqueur and lemon juice.
Add 1/2 cup crushed ice. Cover and shake vigorously. Use the strainer and pour equal amounts into the coupes. Garnish with the lemon peels.

1 lemon, cut in half
Sugar, to rim the glasses
Ice
3 ounces cognac
1 1/2 ounces fresh lemon juice
1 1/2 ounces orange liqueur

Steps:

Rim the glasses with the lemon halves. Place some sugar on a shallow plate and dip the tops of the glasses in it. Fill a shaker halfway with ice. Add the cognac, lemon juice and orange liqueur. Shake for 10 seconds. Strain into the sugar-rimmed glasses and enjoy!
