DIY NATURAL DISHWASHER RINSE AID



DIY Natural Dishwasher Rinse Aid image

A recipe for a simple natural dishwashing rinse aid to make sure your dishes get sparkling clean!

Provided by Sara McFall

Number Of Ingredients 5

3 tbsp. Citric Acid
2 cups Hydrogen Peroxide or Distilled White Vinegar
16 oz. Squeeze Container (as pictured) or recycle a ketchup or mustard container
15 drops of Lemon Essential Oil and/or 1 tbsp. of lemon juice

Steps:

  • Pour the hydrogen peroxide or distilled white vinegar into the squeeze bottle. All the Citric Acid and then the essential oils or lemon juice. Gently swish the solution around until it is well combined. Fill your dishwasher rinse aid compartment with the solution and depending on your washer and how often you use it, it should last for a weeks to a month.

After a great deal of experimentation in my "lab" (which looks a lot like my kitchen), I developed a cheap, easy to make fake "Jet Dry" type dishwasher rinse aid that works very well. It's natural and non-chemical, but you still need to keep it out of reach of kiddies due to the alcohol content.

1 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup alcohol
1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide (3%)
2 tablespoons citric acid

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients. Fill dishwasher rinse container.
