Steps:
- Preheat the oven for 375˚F (190˚C).
- Slice the eggplant, tomatoes, squash, and zucchini into approximately ¹⁄₁₆-inch (1-mm) rounds, then set aside.
- Make the sauce: Heat the olive oil in a 12-inch (30-cm) oven-safe pan over medium-high heat. Sauté the onion, garlic, and bell peppers until soft, about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, then add the crushed tomatoes. Stir until the ingredients are fully incorporated. Remove from heat, then add the basil. Stir once more, then smooth the surface of the sauce with a spatula.
- Arrange the sliced veggies in alternating patterns, (for example, eggplant, tomato, squash, zucchini) on top of the sauce from the outer edge to the middle of the pan. Season with salt and pepper.
- Make the herb seasoning: In a small bowl, mix together the basil, garlic, parsley, thyme, salt, pepper, and olive oil. Spoon the herb seasoning over the vegetables.
- Cover the pan with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Uncover, then bake for another 20 minutes, until the vegetables are softened.
- Serve while hot as a main dish or side. The ratatouille is also excellent the next day--cover with foil and reheat in a 350˚F (180˚C) oven for 15 minutes, or simply microwave to desired temperature.
- Enjoy!

- Hero Cake and Hero Cookies from The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Remember at the end of the flood when Pooh gets made into the hero (when it really should have been Piglet)?
- The Black Forest Cake in Lilo and Stitch. When Lilo and Stitch visit Lilo’s sister at work, Lilo orders a piece of chocolate cake with vanilla frosting and a cherry on top.
- The Big Donut in Zootopia. You may remember The Big Donut from the adrenaline-filled scene in Zootopia, when Judy chases Nick Wilde. Though the donut didn’t have much screen time, it plays an important part in the film.
- Belle’s Enchanted Breakfast Porridge. In Beauty and the Be ast, Beast quickly chows down a porridge for breakfast, without any utensils, scaring Belle a bit.
- Snow White’s Gooseberry Pie. You may not have little bird friends to help you bake Snow White’s gooseberry pie, but that’s alright because we’ve got a simple recipe for you.
- Kronk’s Spinach Puffs from The Emperor’s New Groove. If you like spinach, you’ll love this recipe. If you have kids that don’t love spinach, you should let them watch The Emperor’s New Groove, then make some of Kronk’s spinach puffs and tell them that it’s just like in the movies (but way better).
- Princess Aurora’s birthday cake. One of the really fun parts of Sleeping Beauty is when the kind (but very clumsy) fairies attempt to make a dress and a cake for Aurora’s birthday.
- Rapunzel’s Hazelnut Soup. Mother Gothel, evil as she may be, does do one thing right. She cooks Rapunzel her favorite meal—Hazelnut Soup. You can make this soup yourself as an appetizer, to warm you up on a cold night, or to serve at a Tangled-themed party.
- The Mint Sorbet from The Princess Diaries. One of the funniest scenes in The Princess Diaries is when Mia accidentally takes too much of her frozen dessert in one mouthful and gets quite the surprise.
- The Grey Stuff in Beauty and the Beast. Who could forget the scene in Beauty and the Beast when the dishes sing, “Be Our Guest” to Belle, as they present her with all kinds of food?
