1 box(es) ding dongs
6 ounce(s) whip toppind
4 ounce(s) cream cheese
3/4 cup(s) powder sugar
1 package(s) white chocolate (chocolate or vanilla) instant pudding
1 1/2 cup(s) milk
1 package(s) chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Mix powdered sugar, whipped topping and cream cheese in a bowl. Add more or less cream cheese, sugar or whipped topping to desired consistency. Set aside in the refrigerator for 10 minutes. In a separate bowl, prepare instant pudding according to directions and place in refrigerator for 5 minutes.
  • Next, slice the Ding Dongs in half and lay them cream-side-up on a plate or serving dish lined with wax paper. Layer pudding in the middle of ½ Ding Dong and spread out to the edge of the snack cake. Add a layer of chocolate chips and a final layer of cream cheese, whipped topping and powdered sugar mixture. Place the other ½ Ding Dong on top of the layers and voila.a Ding Dong sandwich. Add a final layer of cream cheese, whipped topping and powdered sugar mixture with chocolate chips on top of the treat. Repeat.
  • Place in freezer overnight before serving.

I had this at a softball cookout this summer & it is SO good!!! It is gooey, chocolately, creamy; what more can you ask? I think you'll like it! Cook time is approximate chill time.

12 Ding Dong Chocolate Snack Cakes
1 (2 1/8 ounce) box instant chocolate pudding mix
3 cups milk
1 (9 ounce) container Cool Whip, thawed
1 Hershey Bar
1/2-3/4 cup chopped nuts

Steps:

  • Mix pudding with milk according to package directions.
  • Crumble layer of cakes in bottom of large serving bowl.
  • Top with pudding.
  • Repeat another layer of cakes, then top with rest of pudding.
  • Top with Cool Whip, shaved chocolate bar& nuts.
  • Chill.
  • Double the recipe for punch bowl size.

2-8 oz pkgs of cool whip
8 oz cream cheese, softened
2 box pudding; chocolate, vanilla or 1 of each
3 c milk

Steps:

  • 1. Cut ding dong in half lengthwise. Place them, cream side up, on the bottom of a 9x13 pan. Blend 1 tub Cool Whip with cream cheese. Blend until smooth and spread over ding dongs.
  • 2. Mix 2 boxes of pudding with the milk. Layer in pan and top with the other tub of Cool Whip. Refrigerate overnight.

  • In a medium saucepan whisk together flour and half and half. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until very thick and the consistency of pudding. This will take about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Set aside to cool completely. Mixture will become very thick.
  • Place the chocolate chips into a heat proof bowl. Warm the heavy cream in a small saucepan until it starts to bubble around the edges and simmer gently.The heavy cream may be heated in the microwave as well, but I find the stove top method more reliable. If the cream boils or overheats, it could burn the chocolate, which causes the mixture to separate.
  • Place the bottom layer cake, top down, on a cake platter or serving plate. Tuck strips of parchment or wax paper under the cake edges to "catch" drips and excess ganache.
