DENNY'S RED VELVET PANCAKE PUPPIES RECIPE
These were a limited edition version of their popular Pancake Puppies released during their Hobbit movie promotion.

- Preheat oil to 350°F.
- In a medium sized bowl combine cake batter mix and 3 eggs. Add 1/2 cup water. Use a blender to mix until the batter has no lumps. Add more water to the batter, a little at a time, until you have a good consistency for making cake balls.
- Add 1/2 cup of white chocolate chips and mix in with a spoon.
- Use a 1 ounce cookie scoop to drop batter into hot oil.
- Fry on one side for approximately 1 minute and then flip over and fry on other side for about a minute.
- Remove pancake puppy onto a plate lined with paper towels. This grease will not be usable for anything but making these red velvet puppies, the oil will turn red. So be sure to make something else first and finish up with these.
- Make cream cheese dipping sauce by combining cream cheese and butter in a medium sized bowl.
- Beat together cream cheese and butter until they are light and fluffy.
- Add approximately 1/2 cup powdered sugar, into butter and cream cheese. Once the first portion of cream cheese has been incorporated add the next portion, and then the remaining powdered sugar.
- Add vanilla, lemon extract, and 1 tablespoon of milk.
- Blend in flavorings and milk.
- Place dipping sauce into a small bowl and serve with red velvet puppies.

- Heat vegetable oil to 350 degrees.
- In a medium-sized bowl combine pancake mix and water. Stir until well blended.
- Use a 1-ounce cookie scoop to drop the batter into the oil. Cook until browned on the bottom, and flip over and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Remove from oil, and drain. Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired. Serve with maple syrup.

- 1. Beat cream cheese, butter, and vanilla until well-mixed, light and fluffy.
- 2. Beat in powered sugar until the right consistency and sweetness that you like. If frosting is too thick for you, you can add a tablespoon of milk in at a time until it reaches the consistency you want.
- 3. Preheat oil in deep fryer to 325 degrees.
- 4. Combine pancake mix, cinnamon, milk and egg in a medium bowl with an electric mixer on high speed.
- 5. Mix the jam and strawberries together with the white chocolate chips.
- 6. Add to the batter and mix just until blended in. Set the batter aside for a few minutes.
- 7. When your oil is hot drop by cookie scoop or a large tablespoon into the oil. If you dip your scooper in the oil first your batter won't stick to it. Cook for 2 ½ to 3 minutes or until the batter is dark brown. You can fry around six balls of batter at a time, but first test the cooking time using one ball so that you can make sure the dough is cooking all the way through.
- 8. Remove fried batter balls to paper towels to drain. Sprinkle with additional powdered sugar.
- 9. Serve with cream cheese dipping sauce.
- 10. Or make a sundae out of them by adding a big scoop of vanilla ice cream to a bowl. Surround with three or four of the puppies. Drizzle with the cream cheese frosting. Add the thawed strawberries on top and lastly garnish with whipped topping. Enjoy!

- Mix milk and vinegar in a medium bowl and allow to sour for 5 minutes.
- Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda in large mixing bowl.
- Whisk egg and butter into soured milk.
- Fold flour mixture into soured milk and whisk until clumps are gone. Do not overmix.
- Allow batter to rest in a chilled area for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- Heat large skillet over medium heat and coat with cooking spray.
- Pour ¼ cup of batter onto the skillet and cook until surface is bubbly.
- Flip with spatula and cook until browned on other side.

- Pour several inches of oil into a deep saucepan. Begin heating it up to 375F degrees over medium-high heat. It's important to use a cooking thermometer to get it to the right temperature and not overheat the oil.
- In a large bowl, combine pancake mix, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg, milk, beaten eggs and 2 tbsp. oil.
- Scoop batter up using a spoon or a small cookie scooper and drop into the hot oil. A generous teaspoon of the batter is enough.
- Don't make them too big and don't let your oil get out of control hot and don't try to cook too many at one time.
- Drop about 3-4 puppies at a time into the oil.
- Flip them over once during cooking so the get evenly brown on all sides.
- Small batches work best so you have a chance to flip them around as they cook. Continue with this process until they are all done.
- When they are finished frying, place them onto a paper towel lined tray to drain excess grease. They will be golden brown when done.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar as soon as they come out of oil.
- To make the icing, stir together powdered sugar, milk and extract in a small bowl. Stir until smooth. Then serve!

- In a medium sized pot, add 4 cups of oil, and heat oil to 350 degrees.
- In a medium sized bowl combine pancake mix, water, and white chocolate chips and mix until blended.
- Use a cookie scoop to scoop out pancake batter and drop it into hot oil.
- When the pancake dough ball turns brown on the bottom side, flip over using a slotted spoon, and cook until the other side has been browned.
- Remove cooked pancake puppies and drain them on paper towels.
- Roll puppies in powdered sugar and top with any remaining powder sugar.
- Serve with your favorite pancake syrup.
