1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vitamin C powder
3 teaspoons molasses
1 teaspoon onion powder
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon sea salt, without iodine

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients together until well blended and salt is dissolved.
  • Recipezaar doesn't recognize the vitamin C crystals, but they are available at natural food stores and online. Ecological Formulas brand Buffered Vitamin C Crystals is corn-free.
  • You can use white vinegar in place of the water and Vitamin C crystals, we don't do this because of a corn allergy.
  • Check that the onion powder and garlic powder don't have dextrose added for better flow if you also have a corn allergy.

This mock chow mein recipe is an extra flavorful ground beef and rice casserole with an appealing chow mein noodle crunch.

1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion (diced)
1 cup chopped celery
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 1/2 cups warm water
1/2 cup rice
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 14.5 oz can bean sprouts (drained)
1 3 oz can chow mein noodles

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Saute ground beef and onions until meat is cooked; drain.
  • Add celery, both soups and warm water. Stir in rice, bean sprouts, soy sauce and pepper.
  • Turn into 9 x 13-inch casserole dish and bake covered for 30 minutes. Remove cover and bake another 30 minutes, sprinkle chow mein noodles on top in the last 5 minutes of baking.
