MARINATED STEAK

Simply the best steakhouse steak sauce! One of my favorite summer dishes is cooking steak on the grill with an assortment of cooked vegetables.

Provided by Jessica (swankyrecipes.com)

Number Of Ingredients 21

----serves 3
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 garlic clove (, minced)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar or 1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon soy sauce
pepper
----makes 1 cup
2/3 cup water
1 tablespoon olive oil 1
cup pineapple juice
3 tablespoons lemon juice
¼ cup teriyaki sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon Jack Daniels Whiskey
1 1/3 cups dark brown sugar
3 tablespoons white onion (, minced)
1 head garlic
1 tablespoon crushed pineapple
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients together and place steaks into freezer bag with marinade, preferably overnight.
  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Cut 1/2 inch off the top of garlic head. Cut roots so that the garlic will sit flat. Remove papery skin, leaving enough so cloves stay together. In a small oven safe casserole dish, place garlic in dish and drizzle olive oil over it then cover with foil. Place in oven and allow to bake for 1 hour. Remove from oven and let cool until safe to touch. In a medium saucepan, combine water, soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, pineapple juice and brown sugar. Heat over medium/high heat, stirring occasionally until mixture boils then reduce heat until mixture is just simmering. In a small bowl, squeeze the sides of the head of garlic until the pasty roasted garlic is squeezed out. Measure 2 teaspoons into the saucepan and whisk. Add remaining ingredients to the pan and whisk to combine. Allow mixture to simmer for 40 to 50 minutes or until the sauce has reduced by 1/2 and is think and syrup like. Do not allow to boil over.

These Jack Daniels sandwiches are barbecued meat using either pork, beef or chicken to make a fabulous sandwich with. The meat is fork-tender and slow-cooked in a whiskey and root beer or choice of soda then drenched with a delicious homemade barbecue sauce all stacked on a grilled hard roll.

Number Of Ingredients 15

3 to 4 pounds of boneless Beef roasts ( I use London broil) or Pork Tenderloin ( you can also use the Pork shoulder or Pork butt just be careful of the bones) use 4 boneless chicken breasts
1/4 cup whiskey (we use Jack Daniels) (for nonalcohol users, add beef broth)
1 can root beer, coke, or cherry coke (you can also use diet or beef broth if preferred)
1 teaspoon granulated garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper and salt
Optional: a pinch of cayenne pepper if you like spicy, for more of a smoked flavor use 2 tablespoons liquid smoke
Olive Oil (need for brushing on the buns) or melted butter if you prefer
Cooking Spray
Cast Iron grooved skillet or grill pan
For Garnishing:
Regular sized hard rolls or slider buns (smaller than the regular-sized buns)
Jack Daniels Homemade Sauce Recipe
Minced Garlic (1/2 teaspoon per sandwich)
Dried Parsley Flakes
pickle slices are optional

Steps:

  • Place the meat in an instant pot and sear the pork or beef on both sides for 3 minutes in 3 tablespoons of butter or oil. Drain.
  • Note: if using just a regular slow cooker, sear the meat on top of the stove first then proceed the same in the slow cooker your using.
  • Add 1/4 cup of Jack Daniels and 1 can of cocoa cola, black pepper, salt, granulated garlic, ( liquid smoke if using) and cayenne pepper and place on the slow cooker on low 6 to 8 hours or on high 4 to 6 hours.
  • Drain off most of the juice.
  • Shred the meat with two forks or use a meat claw shredder.
  • Add the homemade sauce recipe for Jack Daniels or barbecue sauce your favorite store-bought barbecue sauce.
  • Toasting the buns: I use a cast-iron skillet with groves or griddle pan to grill the buns.
  • Sliced the buns open, brush them lightly with olive oil or butter
  • Grill until lightly toasted then brush the tops with minced fresh garlic or granulated garlic powder with dried parsley on top.
  • Fill the buns with the meat, adding more sauce if needed and top with pickles if using.
  • Note for Cooking Methods
  • Instant pot: sear the meat first 3 minutes on each side then place the instant pot on slow cooker mode to manual instructions.
  • Regular slow cooker/crockpot: sear meat on top of the stove first for 3 minutes on each side then place in the slow cooker for 6 to 8 hours on low or 4 to 6 hours on high.
  • Oven-roasted on 250 covered with foil in a roasting pan for around 6 hours.
  • Smoker: place in a smoker using apple chips on 225 low heat for 12 hours.

  • Place 3/4 cup quinoa in a saucepan with 1 1/2 cups water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to very low. Cover the pot, and simmer where the water is just bubbling for about 15 to 20 minutes, until the water has been completely absorbed. (Check by pulling back the quinoa with a fork to see if water remains.) Turn off the heat and let sit covered to steam for 5 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, chop the onion. Mince the garlic. Peel and chop the carrots. Chop the celery. Dice the green pepper. Drain and rinse the beans.
  • In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil, then saute the onion for 5 minutes. Add in garlic, carrot, celery, and green pepper, and saute about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in the soy sauce and adobo sauce and cook 30 seconds more.
  • Add the black beans, kidney beans, Muir Glen tomatoes, 2 cups of the cooked quinoa (reserve remainder for future use), corn, and green chiles. Add enough water to obtain a liquid consistency, about 3 cups. Season with the chili powder, garlic powder, paprika, and ground cumin and bay leaf. Simmer chili on low for 30 minutes.
