1 lb ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup catsup
2 tablespoons mustard
2 tablespoons wine vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, brown beef with onions.
  • Mix the rest of the ingredients together.
  • Add to beef and onions.
  • Cook for 1 hour over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  • Serve on warm hamburger buns.

1 -1 1/2 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 bell pepper, chopped
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 -3 tablespoon chili powder, to taste
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon curry powder (optional)

Steps:

  • Brown beef and drain the grease.
  • Add onion and bell pepper and cook til onion is clear.
  • Add spices and tomato sauce and cook for a minute til hot through.
  • Great leftovers.

This is our family's version. I'm posting it here for my kids, who like to make it now that they live away from home.

1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
1/2 cup diced onion
1/2 cup diced green pepper
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 1/3 cups ketchup
2 tablespoons prepared mustard
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
salt
pepper
6 hamburger buns

Steps:

  • Brown ground beef with onion, pepper and garlic.
  • Add remaining ingredients (except hamburger buns).
  • Simmer gently for 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, lightly toast bun halves in 350º oven, cut side up.
  • Serve a generous heap of meat on each bun.
