Number Of Ingredients 9

1 top beef round steak, Swiss steak, or arm roast
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup oil
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon ginger
10 drops hot sauce

Remove steak from marinade, reserving marinade, and place on grill over ash covered coals or on a rack in broiling pan so surface meat is 4-5 inches from heat. Broil at moderate temperature, rare or medium (25-30 minutes, depending on thickness of steak and doneness desired), brushing with marinade and turning occasionally. DAD'S GRILLING STEAK MARINADE

Dad's Grilling Steak Marinade image

My dad always marinated steak in this marinade and was always a favorite of the family. I lost track of it and while I was digging through some old recipes I came across it. It's from Lawry's. It's also great to marinade pork chops.

Time 25m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 tablespoons canola oil
6 tablespoons concentrated low sodium chicken broth
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
4 green onions, thinly sliced (whites and greens)
1 teaspoon ground ginger or 2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger
1 teaspoon garlic powder or 2 teaspoons minced fresh garlic
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 lbs flank steaks

Steps:

  • Combine canola oil, chicken broth, honey, soy sauce, onions, ginger, garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce in a medium bowl with a whisk; set aside.

  • Put the flank in a rectangular plastic container, add the marinade and coat the steak well all over. Cover and marinate the steak all day or overnight, turning occasionally.
  • Heat grill. Grill steak 10-15 minutes each side, basting with marinade, until desired doneness.
