As the name says "Dad's Banana Bread". My dad came up with the receipe and gave it to me to make it for my husband.

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 large ripe bananas
1 c sugar
1 egg
1/4 c melted butter
1 Tbsp baking soda
1 Tbsp salt
1/4 c nuts-walnuts or pecans
1 1/2 c flour
1/3 pkg mini chocolate chips

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2. Grease pan with cooking spray.
  • 3. Mash bananas (potatoe masher works great).
  • 4. Add all ingredents to mashed bananas and mix well.
  • 5. Place in pan and bake until toothpick comes out clean except for maybe some chocolate.

This is a really yummy banana bread that the whole family loves. It is the best when warm, and microwaving it works fine to make it warm later on. This was my dad's recipe and it is the best!

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup sugar
1 cup banana, mashed (2 medium)
1/2 cup margarine or 1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup lowfat milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups flour (not self-rising)
1/2 cup nuts, chopped (optional)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease bottom only of 9 by 5 or 8 by 4 inch loaf pan.
  • In large bowl, blend the first 6 ingredients; beat for 1 minute at medium speed.
  • Stir in remaining ingredient just until the dry ingredients are moistened.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • At 350 degrees, bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • Cool for 5 minutes; remove from pan.
  • Cut into slices and enjoy! They are great with butter on top!

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 cup white sugar
½ cup butter
2 eggs, well-beaten
2 ripe bananas, mashed
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • Beat together the cream cheese, sugar, butter, eggs, and banana in a large bowl until very smooth. Stir in the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and walnuts until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wire rack.

By far one of the best banana breads I have ever had! Simple but well worth it! My dad will always make at least once a month. I've made a few changes from my dad's recipe by adding chocolate chips and some chopped nuts. This makes the banana bread even better, still great without those two items though. With any banana bread, make sure your bananas are over ripe or really bruised...this makes for the best bread. So the next time your bananas go bad, make some banana bread or freeze them for later. =)

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup shortening (I use regular vegetable oil) or 1/2 cup oil (I use regular vegetable oil)
2 eggs
4 bananas
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional but recommended, I like to use walnuts) (optional)
1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional but recommended) (optional)
cooking spray or oil, to coat pan

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Mix flour, sugar, and soda together.
  • Beat in Oil, eggs, and bananas.
  • Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
  • Put in greased bread pan. Should be 3/4 of the way full.
  • Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees. (the top of the bread will crack -- but it is not done yet.
