EASY HOMEMADE TUNA CAT TREATS

Easy Homemade Tuna Cat Treats image

When it comes to making homemade cat treats, this recipe is about as easy as it gets. It calls for only four ingredients and these treats can be ready for your cat to enjoy in less than 30 minutes.

Provided by Savannah Stanfield

Categories     treats

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 can of no salt added tuna (5 oz.)
2 Tbsp coconut flour
1 egg
2 tbsps. olive oil

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350℉ and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Without draining it, add the entire can of tuna to the food processor. Use the pulse function to finely chop the tuna.
  • Combine the tuna, coconut flour, and egg in a mixing bowl until a dough forms. Once combined, add in the olive oil and mix it in evenly as well.
  • Use a teaspoon or tablespoon to scoop out some of the dough (depending on how large you want the treats to be), then roll it into balls.
  • Place the balls onto the baking sheet and use a fork to flatten them out.
  • Bake the treats for 10-15 minutes, or about 5 minutes longer if you want them to be crispier.
  • Remove them from the oven and let them cool before giving them to your cat.

CATNIP TUNA KITTY TREATS

Catnip Tuna Kitty Treats image

A treat for your cat. If you'd rather you can add the catnip to the recipe instead of rolling the balls in it. They like it either way. You can also adjust the amount of catnip based on how much your cat likes cat nip (mine are pigs).

Time 30m

Yield 1 batch

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup nonfat dry milk powder
1/2 can tuna, in oil
1 tablespoon vegetable oil or 1 tablespoon cod liver oil
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup finely crushed dry catnip, for rolling the balls in,approx

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350F and spray a large cookie sheet with cooking spray.
  • In large bowl, mash the tuna so that there are no large lumps.
  • Mix flour and milk in the tuna until throughly combined.
  • Add water and oil, mix well.
  • Beat an egg until foamy, add and combine throughly.
  • Expect the dough mix to be sticky.
  • Shape dough into tiny balls- about the size of a small marble.
  • Roll the balls in finely crushed dry catnip (I usually rub the catnip between my hands to crush it).
  • Place the balls on the cookie sheet and flatten slightly.
  • Bake for 10 minutes then remove them from oven and let them rest for 5 minutes.
  • Turn treats over and bake 10 more minutes or until browned.
  • Cool treats completely before giving any to your pet.
  • Store in air tight container in the refrigerator or a cool dry place.

CRUNCHY TUNA CAT TREATS

Crunchy Tuna Cat Treats image

For all of my buddies that have cats...Christmas time and any time treats

Provided by JoSele Swopes @JODIE57

Categories     For Pets

Number Of Ingredients 4

.46 pound(s) tuna in vegetable oil
3/4 cup(s) rye flour (normal whole meal flour is fine)
1 tablespoon(s) fresh parsley, chopped
WATER

Steps:

  • 365* oven temp
  • Mix tuna, rye and parsley together well, breaking up tuna pieces so they are soft and mushy. Add water gradually, as is needed to make a firm dough that is easy to mold into a small shape.
  • Roll a teaspoon-sized amount of the dough between your palms, creating a small round ball. Flatten the ball so it becomes disc-shaped.
  • Repeat process until all mixture is used, placing each biscuit disc onto a lightly greased oven tray.
  • Bake in your 365* oven for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Turn oven off, though leave tray in until oven has completely cooled. (This will help to dry out the biscuits further, and therefore help the treats keep for longer).
  • When biscuits have cooled completely, they are ready to serve. Handy as an occasional treat, and/or an addition to your pet's everyday dry food.
  • Store treats in an air-tight container in the pantry.
