SPICY-SWEET RIBS AND BEANS CROCK POT

Spicy-Sweet Ribs and Beans Crock Pot image

I found this recipe in Southern Living! Yummy! I've prepared this the night before on low to have done for an early dinner! I did tweak it. The optional ingredients were added to the original recipe from Southern Living.

Provided by Rita1652

Categories     One Dish Meal

Time 6h30m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 (16 ounce) cans pinto beans, drained
4 lbs country-style pork ribs, trimmed
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 medium onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, diced (optional)
3 garlic cloves, minced (optional)
1/2 teaspoon cumin (optional)
1 (10 1/2 ounce) jar red jalapeno jelly (Used Ghost Pepper Jelly!)
1 (18 ounce) bottle hickory flavored barbecue sauce
1 teaspoon green chili sauce (Tabasco Makes a green Jalapeno sauce but use any hot sauce of choice)

Steps:

  • Place beans in a 5-quart electric slow cooker; set aside.
  • Cut ribs apart; sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Place ribs on a broiling pan. Besides browning for taste this removes some of the fat.
  • Broil 5 1/2 inches from heat 18 to 20 minutes or until browned, turning once.
  • Add ribs to slow cooker, and sprinkle with onion, garlic, and pepper.
  • Combine jelly, barbecue sauce, and hot sauce in a saucepan; cook over low heat until jelly melts. (I just added right to the beans and it melted in with no problem).
  • Pour over ribs; stir gently.
  • Cover and cook at HIGH 5 to 6 hours or at LOW 9 to 10 hours.
  • Remove ribs.
  • Drain bean mixture, reserving sauce.
  • Skim fat from sauce.
  • Arrange ribs over bean mixture; serve with sauce.
  • Serve on a bed of rice.

CROCKPOT BEANS & COUNTRY PORK RIBS

Crockpot Beans & Country Pork Ribs image

This is a crockpot recipe for beans that I made up one day out of necessity. It is very easy, and my family loves it. I usually start it the night before, and add everything to my crockpot the next morning before I go to work. When I come in at lunch I check my crockpot, and mix the beans. This works out great on nights when the kids have games. Then when we don't get home until 7pm and everyone is starving.. dinner is ready!

Provided by JusMe2943

Categories     One Dish Meal

Time P1DT6h

Yield 10-12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 medium size pkg. dried pinto bean
6 -8 cups water
4 slices thick slab bacon, cut in pieces
5 -6 boneless pork ribs, cut in thick 1 1/2-inch cubes
1 chopped yellow onion
1 tablespoon tony catchere's seasoning (or favorite seasoning salt)
2 tablespoons salt
1 tablespoon pepper
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon lemon pepper
4 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • Sort beans to remove all debris or bad beans, and rinse in a strainer with water. Add rinsed beans to 6-8 cups of water in the crock pot and cover. Allow to sit overnight. Use no heat at this time.
  • The next morning turn the crockpot heat setting to high, and add all other listed ingredients, mixing well. Check beans in 4-5 hrs and mix again. Replace lid and continue cooking on high 4-5 hrs more. We eat this over white rice, or with cornbread. It's great both ways!

CROCK POT RIBS AND BEANS - LITTLE FAMILY ADVENTURE
2019-04-08 This crock pot ribs recipe combines a Memphis style dry rub, a not so sweet “baked style” bean, and then a bold and smoky Kansas City style BBQ sauce. Many of the spices used for these crock pot country ribs and beans are the same. So it just makes sense to throw them all together for this crock pot barbecue ribs recipe.

  • 8 to 24 hours before assembling in the slow cooker, rinse the white beans and place them in a large bowl with cold water to cover by at least 2 inches. Let the beans soak anywhere from 8 to 24 hours.
  • 8 to 9 hours before eating, drain the beans and transfer them to the slow cooker. Dry the pork ribs thoroughly with paper towels, then season generously with salt and pepper. Heat 2 teaspoons of the oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium heat until the oil is hot and rippling. Add half of the ribs and brown on all sides, 4-5 minutes. Transfer them to the slow cooker. Return the skillet to medium heat and heat 2 more teaspoons oil until hot and rippling. Brown the remaining ribs and transfer them to the slow cooker.
  • Return the skillet to medium heat and heat the remaining 2 teaspoons oil until shimmering. Add the onion and ¼ teaspoon salt; cook, stirring occasionally, until beginning to brown, about 2 minutes. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add 1 cup of the chicken broth, tomato paste, celery seed, thyme and bay leaf, scraping up the browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Turn the heat to high and bring the mixture to a boil. Transfer the onion mixture to slow cooker.
  • Add the kielbasa, tomatoes and chicken broth to the slow cooker. Cover and cook on either low or high, until the meat is tender, 7 to 8 hours on low or 5 to 6 on high. Before serving, discard the bay leaf, stir in the parsley, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve over hot, steamed rice, if desired.

  • In a slow cooker, combine the beans with the broth, tomatoes, wine, garlic, rosemary sprig and 1 tablespoon of the tomato paste. Nestle the ribs into the beans, cover and cook on low until the ribs are tender, about 3 hours. Transfer the ribs to a rimmed baking sheet and cover with foil. Continue to cook the beans on low for 3 hours longer, until tender. Discard the rosemary sprig and skim off as much fat as possible.
  • Shortly before serving, preheat the broiler. In a small bowl, mix the remaining 1 tablespoon of tomato paste with the balsamic vinegar and honey. Season the ribs with salt and pepper and set them on a baking sheet, meaty side up. Brush with the balsamic glaze and broil the ribs about 3 inches from the heat for about 3 minutes, rotating if necessary, until browned and heated through. Cut into individual ribs.
  • Stir the chopped rosemary into the beans and season with salt and pepper. Spoon the beans into shallow bowls, top with the glazed ribs and serve.
