Time 5h15m

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 pounds beef sirloin roast
3 carrots, chopped
3 stalks celery, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
½ (.75 ounce) packet dry brown gravy mix
2 tablespoons water
1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
10 fluid ounces cola-flavored carbonated beverage

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Place meat in a roasting pan. Sprinkle carrots, celery and minced garlic around roast.
  • In a small bowl, combine the brown gravy mix and water, mixing into a smooth paste. Add onion soup mix, cream of mushroom soup and cola-flavored carbonated beverage. Pour over the roast.
  • Cover pan, and cook 1 hour in the preheated oven.
  • Reduce oven temperature to 225 degrees F (110 degrees C), and continue cooking 2 hours. Remove from oven, and turn roast over so that the top is now covered with the gravy. Cover pan, and return to oven for a minimum of 2 hours.
  • Remove from oven, and let meat rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Provided by Melissa Sperka

Categories     Main Course

Time 8h10m

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 4 lb chuck roast
1 Tbsp olive oil
1-2 Tbsp steak seasoning
1/2-1 tsp black pepper
4 clove garlic (minced)
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
2 1 b carrots (peeled and cut on the bias)
1 large sweet onion (cut into wedges)
1 12 oz can coca cola
1 1.0 oz package herb gravy for beef or brown gravy mix
1 tsp Herbes de Provence
2 lb medium Yukon Gold or russet potatoes (halved [optional])

Steps:

  • Spray the inside of the slow cooker with cooking spray. Rinse and pat dry the pot roast. Drizzle with olive oil then rub with steak seasoning, black pepper and minced garlic on all sides. Center in the slow cooker.
  • Arrange the carrots and onion wedges around the roast, placing a few onion wedges on top. Drizzle the Worcestershire sauce over the roast.
  • Mix together the coca cola, brown gravy mix and Herbes de Provence until dissolved. Pour over the roast and vegetables. If adding potatoes, arrange the potato halves on top. If serving with mashed potatoes, omit.
  • Season the vegetables with a light sprinkle of steak seasoning or seasoned salt and black pepper to your taste.
  • Cook on low for 8-10 hours. To make the gravy, use a slotted spoon to remove the roast and vegetables from the slow cooker to a platter. Cover and keep warm.
  • Pour the drippings into a saucepan, skimming any excess fat from the top.
  • Thicken with cornstarch or a flour slurry to make the gravy, if desired.

4-INGREDIENT SLOW COOKER COLA CHICKEN

4-Ingredient Slow Cooker Cola Chicken image

This popular slow cooker cola chicken recipe is made with only four ingredients, and there are many possible flavor variations.

Provided by Diana Rattray

Categories     Entree     Dinner

Time 6h8m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 large onion
3 to 4 pounds of chicken parts
1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
Ground black pepper (to taste)
1 cup ketchup
1 cup cola (or Dr. Pepper)

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Cut the ends off the onion, peel it, and then cut it in half lengthwise. Slice the halves thinly.
  • Place half of the onion slices in the bottom of the 5- to 6-quart slow cooker crockery insert.
  • Place the chicken pieces on the onion layer. Sprinkle lightly with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  • Top the chicken with the remaining onion slices.
  • In a small bowl, combine the ketchup and cola or Dr Pepper. Mix to blend thoroughly.
  • Pour the cola and ketchup mixture over the chicken pieces in the slow cooker.
  • Cover the pot and cook on low for 4 1/2 to 7 hours, or until the chicken is fully cooked but not yet falling apart. If you want it shreddable, go for the longer time of 7 hours. The minimum safe temperature for chicken is 165 F (73.9 C). If in doubt, check for doneness with an instant-read food thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the chicken (not touching bone).
  • Serve whole pieces and the onion slices on a platter with the sauce or shred the chicken and serve with the sauce on buns. Enjoy.
