Button mushrooms are battered and fried in oil for an irresistible snack. These are great for watching sports.

Steps:
- In a medium bowl, stir together the flour and garlic salt. Mix in egg and water until smooth.
- Heat the oil in a large deep skillet over medium-high heat. Test to see if oil is hot by frying a drop of batter. If it sizzles and floats to the top, the oil is ready.
- Dip mushrooms into the batter and then place in the hot oil. Fry a few at a time so they are not crowded, until golden brown, 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from oil with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

FRIED MUSHROOMS
At my house, we don't like those fried mushrooms that are black and slimy where the breading slides easily off. This recipe is just a very crisp breading on a fresh mushroom. They'll 'pop' when you cut into them they are so fresh. Panko breadcrumbs are a polished bread crumb that you can find in an Asian market or the International section of your favorite food store and they make just a wonderful crunchier coating, too.

Steps:
- Mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
- Add water to make a batter.
- Dip clean mushroom into batter letting excess batter drip off.
- I find it easier to stick a toothpick into the mushroom to dip it.
- After dipping into batter roll in Panko breadcrumbs to coat.
- Deep fry in oil until golden.
- We like to serve with cocktail sauce.

- 1. Combine egg and milk in a small mixing bowl.
- 2. Combine flour, salt, and pepper in another small mixing bowl.
- 3. Dip mushrooms into egg/milk mixture. Roll in flour mixture to coat thoroughly. Dip in milk mixture again, and roll in flour mixture again.

- Heat oil over medium heat in a heavy bottom pan (like a cast iron) Place flour and pepper into a shallow dish and stir. Set aside Add eggs to another shallow bowl and beat them. Place breadcrumbs into a third shallow dish and set aside. Dredge each mushroom slice into the flour, followed by a dip into the egg and then into the breadcrumbs. Working in small batches, deep fry the mushrooms until golden brown. Drain on a paper towel.
- Mix together the mayo and hot sauce and serve with the deep fried mushrooms.

- Cook 10 ounces chopped white mushrooms in olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until golden, 8 to 10 minutes, stirring halfway through. Stir in 1 teaspoon soy sauce, 2 grated garlic cloves and 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest; transfer to a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon olive oil and a 12-ounce package refrigerated gnocchi to the skillet. Cook, stirring, until crisp, 5 minutes. Stir in the mushrooms and 1/4 cup chopped parsley. Season with salt and pepper.
FRIED MUSHROOMS RECIPE
Steps:
- Combine flour and seasoned salt in large bowl or zip-top bag.
- Pour mushrooms into flour/salt mixture and stir or shake to coat.
- Heat oil in the pan over medium heat if pan frying. If deep frying, heat oil to 375.
- When oil is heated through (to test if oil is ready, sprinkle a pinch of flour in oil. If sizzles, it's ready.)
- Place mushrooms in oil, and fry for 2-3 minutes, (flipping if necessary) until they turn to a golden brown.
- If deep frying, fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from oil and drain on a plate topped with paper towels to soak up excess oil.
- Serve warm!

CRISPY DEEP-FRIED BREADED MUSHROOMS

- Clean mushrooms and sprinkle with some salt. Set aside while you prepare your breading station.
- Bring out 3 descent-sized Tupperware containers with lids. These will be part of your breading station. Alternatively, you can use mixing bowls if you like.
- In one container, place the flour. oregano, garlic powder, cayenne, black pepper, salt. red chili flakes, basil, and thyme. Mix to combine. In another container, break in the eggs and beat together with 1/8 cup milk. In the final container, add the breadcrumbs. I usually add a touch of salt, pepper, and garlic powder here (and some more red chili flakes for the spice lovers!)
- Working in batches, place mushrooms in flour mixture. Put on lid and shake until mushrooms are fully coated. Transfer those mushrooms to the egg mixture and shake until fully coated again. Finally, move the mushrooms to the breadcrumbs and shake until evenly coated. Place coated mushrooms on a separate, clean plate and repeat until all mushrooms are coated.
- Pour enough oil into your pan that will allow you to deep-fry the mushrooms. Anywhere from 1-2 inches. Heat to 350F (a candy thermometer is best here.) When the oil is hot, add the mushrooms in small batches, about 6 mushrooms at a time. Deep-fry for 6-10 minutes, flipping them halfway through so you get a nice, golden brown color on the mushrooms. Times will vary depending on your temperature. NOTE: Oil temperature will drop drastically when you add the mushrooms in, so before you move onto your next batch of mushrooms, make sure the oil reheats to 350F.
- Remove from oil and place them in a bowl that is lined with paper towel to catch any oil drippings. Cook until all the mushrooms are completed.
- Serve with ranch dressing or your favorite dipping sauce!

FRIED OYSTER MUSHROOMS
Addicting fried oyster mushrooms! Seasoned crispy outer crust with a tender meaty texture inside. Serve at as an appetizer at your party or game day event; or even as part of a main course!

- Grab your cast iron or FryDaddy Electric Deep Fryer (or whatever type of deep fryer you are using) and pour in oil. (DO NOT PLUG UP YET)
- Take your oyster mushrooms out the package and place in a colander. Pull apart to desired size and rinse well.
- Start making your wet batter. Place 1 cup of spelt flour in a large mixing bowl along with garlic powder, onion powder, and sea salt. Add in water and mixed. Batter should be the right consistency to coat mushrooms; not to thick and not to runny. Set aside.
- Grab a bowl 1 cup of spelt flour, garlic powder, and onion powder and mix until fully combined. Set aside. NOTE: You could use a large Ziploc bag for this to easily add your mushrooms and shake to get an even coat of the dry batter on the mushrooms.
- Next coat each oyster mushroom in the wet batter ONCE and place it in the the bowl and evenly coat with the dry batter ONCE. Do that for all pieces. NOTE: Using a Ziploc bag simply close the bag and shake vigorous until all mushroom are fully coated in dry batter. DO NOT GO BACK IN FORTH BETWEEN THE WET AND DRY BATTER TO PREVENT OVER BREADING IT WILL NOT TASTE WELL!
- Plug up your Fry Daddy Electric Deep Fryer and allow oil to get hot. (Or if using a cast iron heat oil in your iron until hot). Carefully place mushrooms in oil allowing mushrooms to fry for about 2 to 3 minutes until evenly browned. With your fry basket remove done mushrooms from oil and place on plate cover with a paper towel. Sprinkle with additional sea salt and dried parsley (opt) NOTE: Make sure your oil is hot and DO NOT overcrowd your mushrooms in the deep fryer or cast iron. If you need, divide mushrooms in half to cook a handful at a time.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauces, on top of a salad, or along with your favorite sides for dinner!

- Rinse and slice the mushrooms. Set the sliced mushrooms aside.
- Place the chicken breasts on a cutting board and cover with plastic wrap. Use a mallet or rolling pin to gently pound the chicken until it is an even thickness, about ¾-inch thick. Cut each chicken breast into two pieces, and season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Add one tablespoon of the butter to a large skillet and heat over medium. Once the butter is melted and the skillet is hot, add the chicken and cook until golden brown on both sides (about 5 minutes per side). Remove the chicken to a clean plate and cover with foil or an upside down plate to keep it warm.
