Creamy And Decadent Mashed Potatoes Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: russet potato, bay leaves, garlic, fresh rosemary, fresh thyme, heavy cream, whole milk, unsalted butter, kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper

Number Of Ingredients 10

5 lb russet potato, peeled and cut into large chunks
2 bay leaves
2 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed
2 sprigs fresh rosemary
2 sprigs fresh thyme, plus more for garnish
3 cups heavy cream
3 cups whole milk
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed
kosher salt, to taste
freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • Add the potatoes, bay leaves, garlic, rosemary, and thyme to a large pot. Pour in the cream and milk, bring to a simmer over medium heat, and cook until the potatoes are fork-tender, about 20 minutes.
  • Drain the potatoes, reserving the cooking liquid, and discard the herbs and garlic. Press the potatoes through a potato ricer into a large bowl.
  • Add about 1½ cups of the reserved cooking liquid to the potatoes and stir until creamy. Add the butter, salt, and pepper, and stir to incorporate.
  • Garnish with thyme leaves, if desired.
  • Note: You can save any extra cooking liquid and use it to rehydrate leftover mashed potatoes the next day.
  • Enjoy!

1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4-1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 1/2 cups milk
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed cream of celery soup
1/2 lb American cheese, cubed (I use Velveeta)
6 large baking potatoes, peeled
1 cup chopped onion
paprika

Steps:

  • In saucepan, combine flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Gradually whisk in milk until smooth.
  • Bring to boil, cook and stir for 2 minutes.
  • Remove from heat; whisk in soup and cheese until smooth; set aside.
  • Cut potatoes into 4"x1/2"x1/2" sticks; place into greased 13x9' baking dish.
  • Sprinkle with onion and top with cheese sauce.
  • Bake, uncovered at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until potatoes are tender.
  • Sprinkle with paprika.

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine flour and salt; gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat; whisk in soup and cheese until smooth. 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup sugar
1 large egg yolk, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon grated orange zest
Green food coloring, decorator candies and colored sugar, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Cream shortening, cream cheese and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg yolk and vanilla. In another bowl, whisk together flour, salt and cinnamon; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in orange zest. If desired, add food coloring., Using a cookie press fitted with a disk of your choice, press dough 1 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Decorate with candies and colored sugar as desired.
