2 leaves green lettuce
1/2 onion
20 g shimeji mushrooms
4 slices bread
30 g crab sticks
30 g cheese, for pizza
1 tablespoon olive oil

Steps:

  • Place the green lettuce on top of two slices of bread followed by the round onion slices then distribute the shimeji mushrooms evenly on top.
  • Use your hands to shred each of the crab sticks then put it on top of the mushrooms.
  • Add some grated cheese on top. Add about a quarter teaspoon of aonori (dried green laver) on top of the cheese.
  • Preheat your sandwich maker.
  • Toast your sandwich until brown and crispy.

This sandwich toast has a delicious tuna-mayo filling combined by my favorite Japanese fish cake called chikuwa. I gave this sandwich toast a distinct tang taste by using Japanese ginger. This sandwich toast is also filled with cheese which really goes well with the tuna and fish cake.

60 g canned tuna
1/4 piece yellow onion
1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon mustard
4 slices bread
3 pieces fish cakes (chikuwa)
1 piece myoga (Japanese ginger)
30 g cheese, for pizza
1 pinch pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil

Steps:

  • Finely mince a quarter piece of yellow onion then combine it with the tuna in a bowl. Add a tablespoon of finely grated parmesan cheese, 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise and a teaspoon of mustard. Mix all the ingredients until it is well-combined.
  • Spread the tuna mixture evenly on top of two slices of bread.
  • Slice the chikuwa in half along its length then distribute it evenly on top of two slices of bread.
  • Slice the myoga thinly along its length then spread the myoga slices on top of the chikuwa.
  • Add some more grated cheese on top then sprinkle with about a pinch of pepper on each bread.
  • Preheat your sandwich maker.
  • Toast the sandwich until it is brown and crispy which usually takes about 5 minutes.

1 tablespoon mayonnaise
60 g canned tuna
1/2 onion
30 g shimeji mushrooms
1 myoga (Japanese ginger)
30 g cheese, for pizza
1 pinch pepper

Steps:

  • Spread about half a tablespoon of mayonnaise on top of each of the two slices of bread.
  • Spread the drained tuna evenly on both bread slices which already has a layer of mayonnaise. Add the onion slices on top followed by the shimeji mushroom pieces.
  • Spread the myoga on top of the mushrooms then add some shredded cheese on top.
  • Preheat your sandwich maker.

I love french rolls and love coming up with new ways to enjoy them. This would make a great snack, lunch or even a dinner with a side salad. I had just included 1/2 cup sauteed mushrooms, because I thought people could use their sauteed mushroom recipe of choice that added up to that amount. I've included what I used... not really a recipe.. just really basic, but delicious.

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup sliced mushrooms
salt and pepper
1 French roll, halved
1 tablespoon butter
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup sauteed mushroom
2 slices American cheese (if using American, cut slices into small squares) or 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Directions for sauteed mushrooms:.
  • Saute the mushrooms and salt/pepper in the olive oil until the mushrooms are slightly brown.
  • Directions for toast:.
  • Line a sheet pan with foil and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Each split roll gets half of the butter and garlic amount. Spread each amount of butter over face of roll, then the garlic.

100 g shrimp
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon sake
1 avocado
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
1 pinch salt
1 pinch pepper
1/2 tomatoes
1 -2 green lettuce
4 slices bread
30 g cheese
1 tablespoon olive oil

Steps:

  • Put the shrimps in a microwave-safe bowl then add a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper. Add a teaspoon of cornstarch and a teaspoon of sake then mix well. Cover the bowl or wrap it with a microwave-safe cling wrap then cook in the microwave for 2 minutes using 600W.
  • Put the avocado in a bowl then mash using a fork. Squeeze out the juice from half of a lemon or about 1 tablespoon of lemon juice onto the avocado to prevent it from browning. Add a teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil and then season it with a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix the ingredients well until well-combined.
  • Wash and then dry the green lettuce then tear it into smaller pieces about the size of the sliced bread.
  • Slice the tomato thinly then place on top of a paper towel. The kitchen paper will absorb the excess liquid from the tomatoes. Let the paper towel absorb the liquid for about 10 minutes.
  • Place the green lettuce on top of 2 slices of bread then add a slice of tomato. Spread the avocado mixture evenly on top of the tomato. Add some cheese on top. Arrange the shrimps evenly on top. Add some more cheese then sprinkle with a pinch of pepper.
  • Preheat your sandwich maker.
  • Toast it until it is brown and crispy which usually takes about 5 minutes.

1 teaspoon sake
1 garlic clove
1/3 piece carrot
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1/4 teaspoon parsley
1/2 teaspoon curry powder
1 pinch salt
1 pinch pepper
4 slices bread
30 g cheese
1 tablespoon olive oil

Steps:

  • Put the shrimps in a microwave-safe bowl then add a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper. Add a teaspoon of sake then mix well. Cover the bowl or wrap it with a microwave-safe cling wrap then cook in the microwave for 2 minutes using 600W.
  • Grate a clove of garlic and about a third piece of carrot. Put the grated grated garlic and carrot in a bowl then add 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise, quarter teaspoon of dried parsley, half a teaspoon of curry powder and a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper. Mix the ingredients well until it is well-combined.
  • Cut out the crust of the bread on its four sides if you prefer. Spread the curry mixture evenly on two slices of bread. Next, distribute the shrimps evenly on top of the bread. Top the shrimp with shredded cheese.

  • Toast the sandwich until it is brown and crispy which usually takes about 5 minutes.
  • Remove the sandwiches from the sandwich maker then slice before serving.
