HOT CRAB, SPINACH AND ARTICHOKE DIP



Hot Crab, Spinach and Artichoke Dip image

Easy hot baked crab, spinach and artichoke dip that you will not be able to stop eating! It's easy to make and tastes fantastic!

8 ounces (250g) cream cheese, softened to room temperature
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream (I used 1%)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 (14 oz, 398mL) can artichoke hearts, drained and coarsely chopped
8 ounces (225g) lump crab meat (canned or fresh, I used a combination)
1 cup cooked spinach, liquid squeezed out and chopped coarsely
5 green onions, thinly sliced
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degree F.
  • Lightly spray a 9 inch baking dish with cooking spray and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
  • Stir in the artichoke hears, crab meat, spinach, green onions, and 1 cup of the cheese. Season with salt and pepper and stir to combine.
  • Spread the mixture in the prepared baking dish and sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until hot and bubbling. Serve hot.
  • Store any leftover dip, covered tightly, in the refrigerator for up to one week.

2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 pound lump crabmeat, drained
1 (14 ounce) can artichoke bottoms, drained and chopped
6 ounces shredded white Cheddar cheese
½ cup finely diced red bell pepper
⅓ cup chopped green onions
½ cup sour cream
¼ cup mayonnaise
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 lemon, zested and juiced
2 teaspoons chopped fresh tarragon
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 pinch cayenne pepper, or more to taste
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
1 round loaf sourdough bread
2 tablespoons shredded white Cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking dish with aluminum foil.
  • Combine cream cheese, crab meat, artichoke bottoms, 6 ounces Cheddar cheese, red bell pepper, green onions, sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic, lemon zest and juice, tarragon, Worcestershire sauce, and cayenne pepper in a large bowl; season with salt and black pepper.
  • Cut the top 1/3 off the loaf of sourdough bread and discard. Remove the bread filling and discard, leaving just the crust. Place in the prepared baking dish.
  • Transfer artichoke mixture to the prepared bread bowl; top with 2 tablespoons Cheddar cheese and cayenne pepper.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until dip is warmed and top is golden brown, about 30 minutes.

1 can (about 14 ounces) artichoke hearts, drained and coarsely chopped
1 package (8 ounces) refrigerated imitation crabmeat chunks
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar or Swiss cheese (2 ounces)
Assorted crackers or baguette slices, if desired

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°. Mix all ingredients except Cheddar cheese and crackers in medium bowl until well blended.
  • Spread mixture in ungreased pie plate, 9x1 1/4 inches, or shallow 1-quart casserole. Sprinkle with Cheddar cheese.
  • Bake uncovered 15 to 20 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Serve with crackers.

1 (6 1/2 ounce) package Alouette spinach artichoke spreadable cheese
6 ounces lump crabmeat
1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine
2 tablespoons flour
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon garlic, minced
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg, ground
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F Lightly grease an 8" gratin dish or shallow, oven proof dish.
  • Melt butter over medium heat in heavy gauge sauce pan.
  • Add minced garlic and flour and stir until smooth.
  • Add milk and bring to a simmer for 5 minutes, stirring constantly over medium heat.
  • Add Alouette Spinach Artichoke Spreadable Cheese and heat until melted.
  • Add ground nutmeg and season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • Fold in crab meat and spoon into prepared baking dish.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly. Serve warm.

1 lb lump crab (phillips)
3 -10 ounces frozen chopped spinach
12 ounces artichoke hearts
4 1/2 cups milk
8 ounces Velveeta cheese
8 ounces cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups monterey jack cheese, divided
1 cup asiago cheese
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 3/4 teaspoons red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon ground mustard
5 tablespoons butter
3/8 cup flour
1/2 medium yellow onion (finely chopped )

Steps:

  • Thaw spinach and drain very well!
  • Heat milk and all spices on med. heat ( do not boil) Reduce heat and simmer Sauté onion and 1 tablespoon butter until translucent about 8 minute.
  • Add to milk mixture.
  • Melt remaining butter and add flour, making a roux , about 3-4 minutes. Add to milk mixture on low heat Add cheese, except 1/2 cup Montery Jack for topping. Keep on very low heat careful not to burn, stir until melted Remove from heat and cool 15 minutes Drain artichokes and cut into small pieces Add spinach and artichokes to mixture and blend well.
  • Finally, add lump crab with large spoon. Fold in gently.
  • Pour into 11x9x2 casserole pan and top with remaining Monterey jack cheese. Bake at 350°F 12-15 minutes.
  • Serve with tortilla chips warmed in the oven and pico de gallo!
