I found this on ochef.com. According to them, recipes using dried (powdered) milk approximate the texture but not the flavor of true sweetened condensed milk, and the following recipe tastes much better. COPYCAT SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK SUBSTITUTE (PAULA DEEN)
Paula Deen made this on her show. It is the butter that sets this apart from other recipes. This milk is so thick and creamy you will want to eat it with a spoon (or at least I always do)! I have used this several times and it has worked like a charm. I am so happy to have this for the holidays, since it's usually the one ingredient I'm out of.
