Our Coca-Cola chicken features drumsticks simmered in a tangy sauce, giving it a great flavor that the whole family will love.

4 tablespoons vegetable oil, (divided)
2 pounds chicken drumsticks (8 to 9 pieces)
1 cup sweet yellow onion, (finely diced )
1 tablespoon fresh garlic, (minced )
2 teaspoons fresh ginger, (grated)
24 ounces Coca-Cola
¼ cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons light brown sugar, (packed)
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon kosher salt

Steps:

  • Using a 4 to 5-quart Dutch oven on medium-high heat, add 2 tablespoons oil.
  • Add the chicken drumsticks, and sauté for 3 minutes on each side. Remove the drumsticks and set them aside.
  • Add the remaining oil to the Dutch oven. Add the onion, and sauté uncovered for 2 minutes, stirring often. Keep the heat on medium-high.
  • Add the garlic and ginger. Continue cooking and stirring often, for 1 to 1½ minutes. Keep the heat on medium-high.
  • Next add the 2 cans of Coca-Cola, soy sauce, brown sugar, black pepper, and salt. Continue stirring often, and cook uncovered for 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Reduce the heat to medium, and add back in the chicken drumsticks. Cook for 20 minutes uncovered, turning the chicken once.
  • After cooking the chicken for 20 minutes, remove the chicken from the pot and set aside. Increase the heat to medium-high. Allow the sauce to reduce for 5 to 8 additional minutes. Once the sauce reduces, remove the pot from the heat. Ladle the sauce over the chicken, and serve while hot.

4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 cup ketchup
1 cup cola-flavored carbonated beverage

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Place the chicken pieces into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Season with salt and pepper. In a medium bowl, mix together the Worcestershire sauce, ketchup and cola. Pour over the chicken. Cover with a lid or aluminum foil.
  • Bake for 50 minutes in the preheated oven, until the chicken is no longer pink.

1 cup cola
1/3 cup finely chopped onion
1/3 cup barbecue sauce
2 teaspoons hoisin sauce
1 garlic clove, minced
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
6 boneless skinless chicken thighs (about 1-1/2 pounds)
Hot cooked rice

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine the first 8 ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally, 10-15 minutes. Reserve 3/4 cup for serving., Grill chicken, covered, over medium heat or broil 4 in. from heat until a thermometer reads 165°, 5-7 minutes on each side, basting occasionally with remaining sauce during the last 5 minutes of cooking. Serve chicken with rice and reserved sauce.

This popular slow cooker cola chicken recipe is made with only four ingredients, and there are many possible flavor variations.

1 large onion
3 to 4 pounds of chicken parts
1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
Ground black pepper (to taste)
1 cup ketchup
1 cup cola (or Dr. Pepper)

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Cut the ends off the onion, peel it, and then cut it in half lengthwise. Slice the halves thinly.
  • Place half of the onion slices in the bottom of the 5- to 6-quart slow cooker crockery insert.
  • Place the chicken pieces on the onion layer. Sprinkle lightly with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  • Top the chicken with the remaining onion slices.
  • In a small bowl, combine the ketchup and cola or Dr Pepper. Mix to blend thoroughly.
  • Pour the cola and ketchup mixture over the chicken pieces in the slow cooker.
  • Cover the pot and cook on low for 4 1/2 to 7 hours, or until the chicken is fully cooked but not yet falling apart. If you want it shreddable, go for the longer time of 7 hours. The minimum safe temperature for chicken is 165 F (73.9 C). If in doubt, check for doneness with an instant-read food thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the chicken (not touching bone).
  • Serve whole pieces and the onion slices on a platter with the sauce or shred the chicken and serve with the sauce on buns. Enjoy.

6 chicken breasts (boneless and skinless (fresh or frozen))
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoons onion flakes (minced)
½ teaspoon garlic salt
1 ½ cup barbecue sauce (divided)
12 ounces Coca-Cola (divided)

Steps:

  • Spread the chicken breasts in the bottom of a 6-quart crockpot.
  • Sprinkle the pepper, minced onion flakes, and garlic salt over the chicken. Pour ½ cup of the barbecue sauce over the chicken.
  • Pour 1 cup Coca-Cola into the slow cooker.
  • Cover and set on a high setting for 4 hours or low for 6 to 7 hours.
  • After the chicken has cooked for about 3 hours on high (or 5 hours on low), drain all liquid from the slow cooker, leaving the chicken in the pot. Add the remaining ½ cup of Coca-Cola and the remaining 1 cup of barbecue sauce to the slow cooker. Continue cooking for the remaining hour.
  • Serve whole with sauce spooned over the top or shred chicken and mix with excess sauce.
