20-Minute Tomato Basil Pork Chops image

Delicious! Presented at Taste of Home's Cooking Show. A very easy and quick stove top dinner. With the nice color presentation and the great flavor of this dish, it could easily be served for dinner party as well.

6 boneless pork chops
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
2/3 cup water
1 cup chopped plum tomato
1 1/2 tablespoons dried parsley flakes
2 teaspoons dried basil
1 -2 tablespoon butter or 1 -2 tablespoon margarine
egg noodles or rice, cooked

Steps:

  • Brown chops in skillet in oil.
  • Combine tomato, soup, water and seasonings and add to browned chops.
  • Cover and simmer about 15 minutes, or until chops are done.
  • Stir in butter or margarine prior to serving.
  • Serve over noodles or rice.

I got the idea for this recipe many years ago from a Campbell's® Tomato soup can label. I adapted it over the years and came up with this recipe. It's one of my husbands favorite meals. I serve it with Goya® Yellow Spanish Style rice.

4 boneless pork chops
lemon pepper seasoning, to season chops with
1 large onion
1 large green bell pepper
1 can(s) condensed tomato soup
1 1/2 can(s) water
1 pkg mccormick® pork gravy mix

Steps:

  • 1. Slice onion into rounds, then slice the rounds in half. Remove the seeds and pith from the green bell pepper. Cut and slice or chop the bell pepper. Season both sides of the chops with lemon pepper seasoning.
  • 2. Pour the tomato soup in a bowl and stir in 1 1/2 cans of water (using the soup can). Then stir in the pork gravy mix.
  • 3. In a skillet, put a little vegetable oil or spray with cooking spray. When pan is hot, put the seasoned chops in and brown on both sides. Remove the chops and drain off any excess fat and/or oil.
  • 4. Put the chops back into the pan, then put the onion and bell pepper over the chops. Pour the tomato soup/pork gravy mixture over the top. Cover and bring to a boil, turn the heat down, loosely cover and let cook until the chops are done. About 20 to 25 minutes.
  • 5. We like this served over Goya® Yellow Spanish Style rice.

1 onion, sliced
4 thick pork chops
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes seasoned with basil garlic & oregano (Del Monte Brand)
salt and pepper
10 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Arrange sliced onions on the bottom of a casserole dish.
  • Lay pork chops over onions.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • If you use the mushrooms put them on top of pork chops then cover with tomatoes.
  • Bake, covered for 1 hour.
  • Remove cover and bake for 30 minutes longer.

Throw in the oven and bake with ingredients you already have on hand. Great way to use those cheap pork chops you found on sale. Fantastic economical meal which Mom made often when I was a kid. Don't make this without the peas, or by using a substitute like green beans. It just won't work. My sister's family hates peas so they just pick them out. Serve over mashed potatoes for a complete meal.

1 1/2-2 1/2 lbs thin pork chops, cheap cut works best
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can tomato soup
1 (15 ounce) can peas, with liquid
2 -3 large onions, cut into large pieces
salt
pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Place chops in a 9x13 pan.
  • Pour undiluted tomato soup over chops.
  • Pour peas with liquid over soup.
  • Place onions over all.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Do not stir.
  • Cover with foil tightly and bake 1 hour 15 minutes or until meat falls off the bone.
  • Serve over mashed potatoes.

4 center cut pork chops
1 onion, sliced
1 to taste salt and pepper to taste
1 cube beef bouillon
½ cup hot water
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed tomato soup

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Heat a large lightly oiled skillet over medium-high heat. Brown pork chops on both sides.
  • Place pork chops in a casserole dish and cover with sliced onions. Dissolve bouillon cube in hot water and mix with tomato soup. Pour soup mixture over pork chops.
  • Cover casserole and bake in preheated oven for 1 hour.

This originally was a Campbell's Soup recipe which I doctored for our taste and adapted it for my crock pot too. This is great for a Fall or Winter meal. It is also yummy served over mashed potatoes. Since it was reviewed, I have altered it to make it more tasty.

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
3 -10 1/2 ounces condensed tomato soup
1 cup cream sherry
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons flour
6 boneless pork chops
2 large sweet onions
3 cups cooked brown rice (or white)

Steps:

  • Slice onions.
  • In a bowl mix tomato soup, sherry and Worcestershire sauce together.
  • Mix flour thoroughly in water and add to soup mixture, stirring.
  • Place 1/2 of the tomato soup mixture in bottom of crock pot, then put pork chops in and cover with sliced onions.
  • Pour rest of tomato soup mixture over everything and cook on low for 8 hours. (DO NOT REMOVE LID).
  • Serve on bed of rice.
