CLASSIC BRANDY DAISY
It's a classic cocktail that dates to the mid to late 1800s and this recipe follows the oldest known version from "Professor" Jerry Thomas. In Thomas' brandy daisy, a couple of dashes of rum are added to the mix and it's likely that he used a full-flavored Jamaican rum.

- Brandy Alexander. This three-ingredient brandy cocktail is sweet, creamy, and perfect for the holidays. All you’ll need to make it is brandy, Kahlua, and cream, though a dash of cinnamon won’t hurt, either.
- Eggnog Brandy. If you thought the Brandy Alexander sounded a lot like eggnog without the nog, you’re not alone. It was my first thought, too. And after I tried it, I still thought, “Man, that would be perfect in eggnog.”
- The Woodsman. Fall drinks are some of my favorites, and the Woodsman is the quintessential fall drink. It may only have five ingredients, but it manages to work in all of your favorite fall flavors.
- Wisconsin Brandy Old-Fashioned. The Cheese State puts its spin on the classic old-fashioned in this delightfully sweet-but-not-too-sweet brandy cocktail.
- Gingered Pear and Brandy Cocktail. This cognac-based drink is ideal for anyone who loves pears and ginger because that’s about all you’ll taste. It’s like someone liquified a pear, shaved off some ginger root into it, and added a splash of brandy.
- Whiskey Apple Brandy Cocktail. It would be challenging to find a more unique-looking drink than the whiskey apple brandy cocktail. The top is thick and luscious whipped cream dusted with chocolate shavings.
- Brandy Daisy. If you’re looking for a brighter, zestier option, try the Brandy Daisy instead. It has a lot in common with the sidecar, but it’s a bit more on the tart side.
- Brandy Smash. This four-ingredient drink is for anyone who loves the rich, complex taste of brandy. Although you’ll add some sugar, soda water, and mint leaves, the brandy still shines through in this one.
- Metropolitan. This orangey-red drink is a citrusy twist on the more well-known Cosmopolitan. It combines brandy, sweet vermouth, simple syrup, and Angostura bitters.
- Vieux Carre. The vieux carre, or “old square,” is a 2-minute, booze-forward cocktail that’s good for any occasion. While there’s a hint of sweetness from the sweet vermouth and Benedictine, it’s primarily earthy, herby, and woodsy.
24 ESSENTIAL CLASSIC BRANDY COCKTAILS YOU SHOULD KNOW
From thespruceeats.com
- Brandy Cocktail. The brandy cocktail is a perfect way to dress up a good brandy, and it fits the definition of a cocktail perfectly. The recipe mixes brandy with curaçao, then finishes it off with both Angostura and Peychaud's Bitters.
- Brandy Daisy. The brandy daisy is very similar and one of the better "daisy" cocktails. It requires just a few dashes of rum along with curaçao, simple syrup, lemon, and soda.
- Metropolitan. Just as gin has the martini and whiskey has the Manhattan, brandy has the metropolitan. This classic recipe mixes brandy with sweet vermouth and simple syrup for a modest, satisfying drink that is great before dinner.
- B&B. As many brandy recipes demonstrate, simpler is often better, and no cocktail proves this more than the B&B. It is equal parts of brandy and the herbal liqueur, Bénédictine, served in a snifter.
- Vieux Carre. A New Orleans classic, the Vieux Carré is an interesting cocktail with layers of flavor. In it, cognac and rye whiskey join up with sweet vermouth, Bénédictine, and Angostura and Peychaud's bitters.
- Brandy Alexander. The brandy Alexander is a creamy pleasure and possibly one of the oldest dessert cocktails. Requiring just three ingredients—brandy, crème de cacao, and cream—it mixes up quickly, and the taste is unbelievably satisfying for the sweet tooth.
- Sidecar. The sidecar has seen many makeovers over the years, and it is one that you can easily adapt to your personal taste. The recipe uses your brandy of choice (often cognac or Armagnac), orange liqueur, and lemon juice.
- Between the Sheets. Fans of the sidecar family of drinks will thoroughly enjoy this sour cocktail. Between the sheets is nearly identical, with its brandy, orange liqueur, and lemon juice mix, but it tosses in light rum for a fun twist.
- Embassy Cocktail. Another interpretation of the sidecar, the Embassy cocktail also pairs brandy, rum, and orange liqueur. The twist in this recipe is the switch to lime juice and a dash of bitters.
- Champagne Cocktail. When brandy and Champagne meet, the result is pure elegance. The Champagne cocktail is a timeless drink that is ideal for special occasions.
